orca skimmers

1,800lph, wow....guessing your going for a 10" body?
I'd like to see what you mean if you could throw a pic or two on here about the eheim.

The skimmer that ORCA is building me will be using the DART NW pump.I assume he will be using the reflowsequence dart model pump or the ORCA pump that you had in the pic.I think he will be using the Orca model nw pump since is more desighned to be used with an NW.I have read it can be used on other reeflow pumps. You can buy the NW kit.I think its $92 I can't remember. Its listed on one of the threads in reeflowsequence forum.

eagles is your skimmer running yet? i'm looking into these and would love to see pics. even if its not running

You can use any pump you want. You just have to tell him wich pump you want on what skimmer. He can mesh mod the pump if you want. Its just that if you are fussy he would prefer you do it yourself. He doesn't want you to be dissapointed with the mesh mod.You don't always get the high numbers that everyone else gets so if its hard to be exact with mesh modding a pump.ORCA will mesh mod it for you but like I said he will explain that you will get better results from modding the pump but its hard to give you exact numbers.Hahn I would like to see that mod you do on the eheim pump. 1800 LPH is crazy. The Dart is supposed to max out at 2850 LPH .I think I will be getting about 2400 -2600 lph out of the one that Shawn is building me.

any of the skimmers that you mentioned would skim, orca, aquaeuro etc. If you do not want a becket (why not if you like them?) then get the aquaeuro classic 400, the orca http://www.protein-skimmer.com/shop...d=33210&merchantid=446996&shop=itemdetail.asp
recirc skimmer or the aquaeuro recirc 265 all would work and do well on your system. The orca costs more, but is better built.

I noticed in your last post you listed that 'Orca Link'. I read that page and noticed they say word-for-word:

"It will be standard w/ the H3 pumps( same as Ocean Runner 3500and Octopus 3000) equiped w/ needle wheel impeller".

I have no idea what an H3 pump is ... never heard of it. I couldn't help but notice that they are identical to Sedra, GenX, Sen, etc... Do you know anything about these pump for instance if they use some special NW or something?

Randy you can use any pump you want gen -x,aqua-b, sedra, octopus, ehiem, aqua medic pumps. You name it you can have a skimmer built for it.The skimmer in the pic has the aqua medic pumps I think.I don't know what was meant by the H3 pump but there is no pump of that brand unless he was talking about Hydor wich I think makes the octopus pumps. You can ask Shawn if you e-mail him.I would either go with modded gen-x pumps or if you can get your hands on the Tunze pumps($300 each) You can send him a pump of your choice or have him order a pump that you want.I don't think he can get the ehiem pump.Other competitors don't want to sell him there pumps. You may be able to buy an ehiem from euroreef buy telling them you bought a skimmer used and you require another pump.

You can just buy an eheim 1262, and then add on the needlewheel from Euroreef's storefront... $100. OR, make your own meshwheel.

BTW, the Tunzes are about $220.

ATI should have the pumps for the bubblemaster available soon.

Well, the official word from Greg at RG is no, but I think I know why. Before that, they were saying that they were going to have them, and for a price about half that of the Tunze. Well, that would mean guys like me could buy the pump and make a better skimmer on our own w/o needing to buy a Bubblemaster. And these pumps are one of the major reasons for the success of the BM... no doubt, selling the pump alone might not be good for business.

The other reason is, according to Greg, for the moment, that ATI is having a hard enough time with the supply and demand of these skimmers, so all pumps are going to skimmers.

But sooner or later, supply will meet demand and these pumps should become available. The thing I dont get about that excuse is that its not like ATI is producing the pumps... Sicce makes them for ATI. So Sicce should just be able to supply as many pumps to ATI as they want.

Perhaps its time for me to gang up with some people and call up Sicce. If ATI can get their hands on these pumps which were previously thought to be a Tunze 'exclusive', then so can I.

the problem is they probably won't sell them to you for that reason the DIY.Why risk making less money.ATI and Tunze probably sighned some kind of agreement on those pumps. It may be a year or two before you can get them (for a decent price) I don't see the sales of ATI slowing down anytime soon.In fact it will still be hard to get them 6 months from now. From what I have senn very high demand. They are stating to sell slowly in Canada but hard to get Demand drives price.Even at $220 per pump its not cheap. The dart Orca sells for $269 now thats a pump.

Yeah, thats a pump, but its a 3600gph pump that only does about 3000lph. The Tunze/ATI does 1000lph of air at less than 1/3 the wattage, and with a very low water throughput (1500lph). So even with three ATI/Tunze pumps, their water throughput would only be about 4500lph, or around 1000gph. I doubt that the Dart has that low of water turbulence to go with the air it does pull in.

Sure is a beaut! The union looks sweet. I wonder how they made the venturi ... it looks like just a coupling with an air line connected, but I'm curious to know if there is somethng special inside.

I would be tempted to change out the ball valve they use for adjusting the feed for a small gate valve. My skimmer valve is already becoming difficult to open/close.

You'll have to e-mail them about prices, sorry.
If your serious. I will tell you it was somewhat comparably priced to DAS EX3,

RandyStacyE Do you have to adjust your skimmer often?

The plumbing for the aquabees looks alot like the replacement parts sold for the DAS Skimmer

No it seems to run pretty steady. When I do want to remove the cup I typically just shut off the feed completely (which lowers the level) and I remove/clean/replace the cup. I think it's easier this way and I don't have to shut off the recirc pump.

I've just been finding that my valve is becoming a PITA. I don't like to force things and doing so tends to wiggle the Uniseal more than I would like to.

Wow that is one nice skimmer. I like how the riser is larger a round than what you normally see.
