Orchid Dottyback

Who has experience with these guys? I know they are supposed to be the most passive dottyback, but I have read some conflicting reports.

My current fish are an Ocellaris clown, purple firefish, and yellow assessor. I may add a shrimp goby at some point as well.

I had a tb pair that made eggs regularily; I also had some rather giant fire worms and the poor male would battle them at night defending hiw clutch, and would come looking like a pin cushin. He eventually seccomed to the repeated battles. The female was around for a long time with fairy wrasses, a solon wrasse, a twin spot candy hog. They fell during a gfci trip while away. They were maybe my favorite fish, and never a problem.

I had one that was kind of a turd. He was the smallest fish but would get aggressive from time to time. Beautiful color. I'd get another one in a big tank. Small tank, not so sure. It ended up carpet surfing after 2 years.

They can be quite grumpy in smaller setups.

Although a damsel, mine doesn't hassle anyone. Vibrant blue and yellow colors and stays wee small.

I agree with the others. The dottyback may harass your firefish.

There are some really beautiful colorful wrasses that stay small & are peaceful. Check with Dave @ ABC 2. What about a geometric hawk? Great coloration, personality if a big hawk but stay small. Really cool small fish.

I didnt have luck with little anthias; they sure look neat.

I'm guessing a black-cap basslet with the yellow assessor would be a no go? I have a hankerin' for some purple

Been doing lots of research on little guys... Tanaka's Pygmy Wrasse might be the winner. Seems like a really interesting fish.
