Order A2549018

Dear LiveAquaria staff.. I wish to appeal in a discussion we had about my order. A2549018. I ordered this Limited Edition purple porites , a $70 frag.

When I got it was a drab grey, I e-mailed your company and say keep an eye out until the end of 14 day period. And I did, so I have attached picture of Porites day 1 and day 14 photos here.

Your staff looked at the 14th day photo, replied and told me it is "very purple". I guess I failed to provide the same photo condition. Because of my effort trying to help this frag, I even went and replaced my MH bulb (same color temperature), therefore in day 14 photo it appears to be more blue / purple hue, this is due to the bulb not properly burned in it's color yet.

Now I am given the option to pack and return the coral, I am not sure if I want to take this offer at this point as it's started to grow on my rock already

here is the picture day 1 and day 14, please remember day 14 has the more blue lighting, but in my opinion it is still grey and shows no purple. It might take a long time to color up.

Please look at my file how many acquacultured frags and livestock have I bought from your company, and a good amount of drygoods orders at DFS for my multiple tanks. Sure I did have a few fish died and had to make a claim. Rarely do I have to complain about the aquacultured coral color because they usually look like the picture I saw on your site. I am NOT trying to get some freebie here such as 100% refund. But for $70, I will NOT walk in my LFS and got this frag in this color. So I appreciate any compensation you can give.

I make the decision to by this frag based on picture I have seen on the internet. The last photo is actually posted a customer who bought the frag from LiveAquaria, and if mine looked as purple as his I will not complain. Note that you can see that this customers received a frag at least has the same color as the coraline algae, on my picture you can see the coraline on the snail's shell for comparison.

Please let me know what you think. Mine is certainly not "very purple" I am not looking for 100% refund or anything. Just showing my dis-satisfaction about this purchase.

Thanks

StrategicReef,

I apologize that you are not fully satisfied with the "Limited Edition" Mike Paletta's Purple Porites - Aquacultured, TCN you received 04/11/07. Please check your lighting as this coral thrives under moderate to high lighting. From your photos it looks like you have 175 watt halides on your aquarium. Based on this conclusion we would recommend moving the coral to the top of the aquarium placing it approximately 12” from the halide bulb. This blast of light should color up the coral within a few weeks assuming there is not a high nutrient level in the aquarium (ie: Phosphates <.02 and Nitrate = 0)

In LiveAquaria we do not have policies, only guidelines. Depending on circumstances regarding past orders or history we may rarely ask for the specimen back. What I have done for you is put notes on your file to have a Manager personally inspect future packages prior to them shipping out. Managers are constantly inspecting orders; however, with these notes your next order will get their special attention.

As it is an inconvenience for you, I will cancel the request to get this specimen back and will credit you in full for the item. In LiveAquaria we do not wish to barter or compromise, we always want to go above and beyond what the customer is expecting. Please keep this coral free of charge and if we can be of any additional help please contact us.

Thank you,

Jaimie A

Dear LiveAquaria staff:

Thank you for resolving the issue. You have exceeded my expectations. My original light is current USA sunpod 150W 14k, the new light now sunpod 250W 14k. I have taken care to place the upgraded sunpod 100% same as the old one using markings.

However it seems to me that due to the geometry of the different bulb size, they do not throw the same arc of light and where this coral is does not seem to benefit from the upgrade. The 250W have much better penetration to the bottom of the tank however. It does sit about 12" or less below the light, or less. I will try to adjust either the light or rock so this coral get even better lighting.

Once again thank you for your attention and resolution, I only posted here because it is easier to compare pictures.
