I cannot wait to see this mother in person!! What are you thinking in terms of stock list?
from a fish standpoint, we really haven't started to narrow it down yet... its likely still months before we put animals in it - even though its virgin, we will still send animals through quarantine first.

We aren't into exotics. We love tangs... and we intend to have a group of schooling fish, maybe 20 or so green chromis... for coral, it will most likely be SPS dominated, but we haven't really begun to discuss it yet.

I've been focused on the mechanical design of the system and creating something easy to maintain. The more automated and easy to maintain, the more it will be correctly maintained.

it will appear empty for quite a while, we plan to bring it up slowly.

From what i can tell with the rockwork it looks professionally done from that little section alone. Is that a type of cement your using to create your rock work? if so whats your solution recipe?

We are using Ecotech Coral Glue - excellent glue, but pricey. The rock is a mixture of BRS Pukani and Reef Saver Eco dry rock rock. Along with the glue we are also using cable ties in a few places -- the rock is very porous and has many holes for tyeing it together. We have some Fiji Premium Live Rock in the refugium to seed the dry rock in DT once its brought on-line.

wah, tank is insane, very nice looking!! is that styro sandwich inbetween?
stand (rubber coated steel) & DT (3/4" glass w Starfire front) from Miracles
5/8" plywood on top of stand
1" polystyrene from Lowe's on top of plywood

I leveled the stand, screwed down the plywood, put down the poly and the DT and it still reads deadnuts level along all top edges of the DT... Miracles did an amazing job on holding exact tolerances on the stand and DT!!!!!

got the main plumbing completed...

dual Bean overflow system, return is routed to refugium but can be redirected directly to sump.

Can't leak test the DT until Reneé is finished with the aquascaping, otherwise she would be in there with a snorkel and mask :)

Dosers for Calc, Alk, Mag and auto-topoff not installed yet. 6 x Radions won't be installed until after leak test, same with the 4 x MP40.

Correct cable routing will be done at final installation.

Filled it all up this afternoon to begin leak testing - 750gal of water -- everything running, so far so good, no leaks spotted yet...

leak test passed... system drained and starting to be filled with salt water...

this filling process will take about 10 days because we are on a well and septic and I'm thinking I should not be running the RODI system more than 12 hrs a day (could overwork the well pump and dilute the bacteria too much in the septic)... that means I will only be getting about 60 gal/day of RO.

I had both storage tanks full to start, salt & RO, so I pumped that 120 gal in... 745-120=625/60=10 1/2 days remaining to fill...

Because I plumbed the system to allow a bypass of the refug I can begin to recirculate 2 days sooner and fill the refug while recirc is happening. 8 days to recirc means I should be able to fire it up a week from tomorrow night, but I may be able to begin recirc a day soonr with the sump 1/2 full, we'll see.

DT is 465g, refug & sump are each 140g...
