Ordering from BulkReefSupply

Alright, it looks like we have enough people interested to do a group buy through their site! I contacted Andrew at BRS to get the process started, and will post with more details when I get them.

rdnkfish and turtleman10 - There is no sending payments and arranging pickups with other members like the traditional group buy. For this type of group buy, you would order from BRS just like you would any other time. We schedule a week where everyone that has signed up for the group buy will be able to purchase items at discounted prices. You pay for your order and it gets shipped to your address. Saving money without the hassle of the regular group buy!

dja1980 posted the thread from when this was done earlier in the year, it has more info ont he process. Myself and many others participated and were very happy.

I went in on the last group buy. the thing is when you have it sent to every bodys own home you are charged each,for shipping so the question is would you save if it was shipped to one house,because I paid $ 33.00 in shipping for what I ordered

True. I could handle a traditional group buy with like 5 people involved, but I'm not willing to handle a traditional group buy with 15+ involved, and I doubt many people would. Either way you're still saving money than you would otherwise.

Alright, I heard back from BRS. Here is what I need for everyone intersted to do:

1. Sign up for a BulkReefSupply account if you don't have one already.

2. PM me with the following:
Your First and Last Name
The e-mail address you used when registering for your BulkReefSupply account

If everyone gets that info to me quickly, we may be able to schedule the group by to start on Tuesday 11/3/2009 (it last for one week). Otherwise it would get scheduled for 11/10/2009.

Lex, maybe you could work out a deal with a few others who are getting in on this. That way, you could have a "traditional" group buy within this group buy. You just have to find others who are willing to combine shipping with you and figure out the logistics of it.

I combined shipping with a person in my office on the last one. He still got his status permanently upgraded because we included him on the master list, but when it came time to order, we just added his stuff to my order, and we split the shipping cost.

If we group with others and try to save on shipping by having delivery at one address, can we still order seperatly? Or do we need to combine the order with the person ordering from that residence?

I asked Andrew about this when I placed me order. He told me that their system didn't have a way to combine shipping unless the items were placed in a single order. So, in my case, I put the order on my credit card, and the person in my office wrote me a check for his portion.

Unfortunately, if you want to pay separately, you'll have to place your own order and pay a separate shipping fee.
