Osmolator Issue

Roger, I bought this about 1 1/2 years ago. However, after moving, I just hooked it up for the first time yesterday. I think the optical sensor isn't working correctly. I have it setup so that both sensors are on separate brackets, next to eachother, with the optical just slighly below the float, maybe about 1/2-1''.

When I first started it the pump filled my tank back up to the level of the optical sensor, which is where I want the water level to be and I thought it worked fine as the pump shut off at the tip of the optical sensor. An hour later I went back downstairs to check on it, and the alarm was going off. The water level was well past the whole optical sensor, it was pretty much fully submerged, and the float was all the way up, which shut the pump off, but also had the alarm going off. Needless to say, the float is working and shutting the pump off, but I don't want to have to listen to the alarm all the time.

Does it sound like there's an issue with the optical sensor? Is there something I can do to fix the issue? Should I put more separation between the two? My understanding is that the pump should shut off once the water gets just above the tip, where the optical sensors are, but it's not. Thanks!

I would start with soaking the sensor in vinegar, possibly in drying out a mineral haze developed on the sensor. If that doesn't work, send it in.
