osmolator problems

i've set it up according to instructions, i set the water level 5 inches from the bottom of my sump, and the saftey alarm an additonal 4 inches on top of that, well, the optical sensor didnt quite work as i thaugth it would, its now about 4 inches under the waterlevel, with the green water ligth lighting "hey im good dude" and the water level bopping a half inch under the alarm, if the power goes out my basement floods (again, which is no real big deal) but, i guess the question is, hey what do i do?

Are you sure that the hose is pumping up hill? It sounds like you have a siphon. The hose is supposed to go up to the tank and not the sump otherwise the pump turns off and everything is working as it should but the reservoir is siphoning out. Besides that the only other cause would be lots of microbubbles interfering with the ooptic sensor, when the sensors are new, like all new plastic pieces they tend to repel water and have an affinity for attracting air bubbles.

the discharge of the hose goes in the overflow section of my aqurium, which sits higher than the water container, i did see microbubbles on the sensor though, i've been blowing it off with a turkey baster, i bet thats what the problem is, otherwise im really happy how easy it was to setup. great product.

Try to eliminate the microbubbles as they do make the sensor unreliable if any quantity of them exists. If it is very minor the sensor can deal with it after some break in but it still is best to try to eliminate them or move the sensor somewhere where they are not an issue.

would it work to slip a collar around it, i.e a large section of pvc pipe or something? otherwise its been working fine now.

I think the best solution would be a baffle plate across the sump or moving the sensor. It may have just been an issue with a new sensor and be resolved now.
