Osmolator with a solenoid valve to turn on/off water supply?

I have two osmolators. I would like to use one to fill my fresh water container. That means instead of a pump, like it comes with, I need to hook up a solenoid valve which will cut off the water coming from my RO unit when the water level rises to the optical sensor and/or backup float switch. Has anyone hooked up a solenoid that way? Any help (especially if you have links to the items I need to buy) would be most appreciated.

You would need a Switched Socket outlet 3150.11 to try this but I do not think it would work as the timer would shut the solenoid off after like ten minutes.

I guess it might depending on how you do it As long as the RO could make water fast enough to not have the timer shut it down as it will not work again untill power cycled.

I think a RO water controller(8555.000) would be a better choice of a Tunze product for this application

I just checked SaltyCritter.com and couldn't find the 8555.000. Any suggestion on where I can find it?

Thanks for your help.

Any tunze dealer can order it for you as long as Roger has it in stock but likely is not stocked in house by many places. Roger could likely say who has it in if you did not want it drop shipped.

I have them, the Osmolator will not work to control an RO unit as it shuts off automatically after 10 minutes. The 8555 is what you want to use, you must follow all the safety instructions though and have the reservoir plumbed with an overflow line to a drain or outside should the solenoid fail. You must also make sure the solenoid goes after the RO unit. I cannot emphasize this enough, I have a major repair to do at my house because I didn't follow either one of these directions (there was no manual I was beta testing it). The solenoid has to go after the RO so only clean water free of minerals and debris passes through and a drain has to be present in case it fails. My valve got jammed by sediment and the resulting overflow caused my wood floors to buckle and now my tank has to be torn down so I can repair the floor. As far as RO shut off sets go, I would say this is one of the best but they can and do fail so install it properly. I had always "planned" to add the drain line later and 6 months of being lazy cost me a heavy price and way more time than it would have taken to install a drain line from the reservoir to the outside of my house. It took me more time just to mop up the water, nevermind fixing the floor.
