Bored here at work and wondering if Im the only one in socal that owns guns and goes shooting....

I own a Mossberg 12 GA 835 ultimag right now and am looking into getting a Colt or springfield 1911 .45 . Im also looking into a small revolver for my g/f.

Where does everyone go shooting? Thanks

I go to OnTarget shooting range in South Orange County, and the side of the sherriffs shooting range off katella is open to the public upon a gun inspection.

I currently have a Sig P229 .40 and a .357 barrel.

S&W 469 9mm

and looking into a Glock 23 .40 .

I also preparing for my career which would be in law inforcement.

Id say look into getting her a small 9mm glock or something of the sort. OnTarget has tons of pistols for rent ( its 5 bucks and you can switch weapons as many times as you want. You must shoot their ammo with their guns. ) Id make a decision based on what she feels comfortable holding/firing. Dont get her a little snubnose .38 . You cant hit the side of a barn with one of those things.

Hah. I have:

JC Higgins Model 20 (12 Gauge, my first gun, also my Dad's first gun).
Marlin .22 (first rifle)
Ruger P89 (9mm)
Kel-Tec SU16a (.223, semi auto)
Remington 710 (.30-06)
Springfield .45 (so very new, not recalling the model at the moment).

I usually go to Prado off the 71/91. For the .223 and .30-06, we generally go camping out off the 40 past Barstow/Ludlow (near the city of Amboy).

For browsing and buying, I generally prefer Turners in Orange.

(Don't subscribe to their email newsletter, it'll just make you spend a lot of money ... kinda like reefing, I suppose).

Awesome guys! I went to Turners last night looking at the Springfield and colt 1911's but I really hate that place with a passion...Their service sucks and they talk down to you. So I left there and went to Evans Gunsmithing/range off of ball and main and they were a little more expensive but their service was awesome and they have a lifetime in store warranty on all their guns and Ill probably buy from them...

Maybe Ill check out that FOWLER place....Do you have directions?

For a .45. look into the para ordinance. Very reliable and an improvement over the .45. If you can get the P14 limited still, it has all the bells and whistles and is dead on out of the box.

For the g/f, look into the smith and Wesson hammerless airlight series. Nice and compact with no hammer to bother her. Just has a bit of a kick

Argentine MF 9mm staggered clip. But I left in in OR when I moved years ago, I was not sure about gun laws in CA.

Badbones, that warthog is awesome!

I don't own a gun yet, I do go shooting sometimes though. Of the couple handguns I've shot my fav has been the 1911 .45 and I am planning on making that my first purchase.

I do like the M1 Garand as well, actually I really liked this gun, haha.

Hey what's a good starter gun. My wife wants to get one, I have no idea.

We are looking for something for protection, so the smaller side would be good. Looking for cheap as well.

Scotchmaster: I should introduce you to Reefmeister. he has a desert eagle 50, among others!

I've owned guns in past and discussed with with wife home defense, but have yet to make a purchase.

Ive shot plenty of desert eagle 50 cals, One buddy has a 24 karat gold plated D eagle its nice and fun to shoot....

If I ever get any hand gun large caliber though it will be a S&W 500! Those things are sweet but ammo is way too expensive.

I was looking at para's, Colts, and springfields....Everyone Ive been talking to said the colt will not loose its value like the other 2 but the colt doesnt have all the cool bells and whistles...I really like a couple of the springfields Ive seen....Im still not sure which one I want as Ive been looking into a nice .308 rifle also...
