OT: anyone else's workplace as boring as mine?!?!?!?

im just bored....are all jobs like this?!?!?!....im so bored that i check RC like every 5 mins!!!!......i never thought i would ever say that im tired of the internet, but i can only check up on my email,myspace,reefcentral,etc so much before being bored to death

p.s. dont get my wrong, im happy that i do have internet access!

LOL.....i like my job and all, but when its slow, it's sooooooo boring....i just dont like being at work when there is nothing to do....last night, my boss agreed to let me go home early, since the couple days before that, my last break, which is only supposed to be 15 minutes long....turn out to be 2 and a half hours long

Where do you work?

I work in an Adaptive Technology computer lab. Ultimately I help disabled students get what they need... usually this is Brailling notes, administering our server, maintaining Kurzweil 3000 licenses, and the biggest thing we do is scan books in to be used in Kurzweil 3000 (where students can have the computer read the books to them or turn them into MP3s... tons of stuff).

Anyway, I say that to say this: in the beginning of the semester, we are EXTREMELY busy scanning books. We cut the spine, scan them in chapter by chapter (on really expensive, double sided, self fed scanners ), and burn them to CDs. After that, we don't do hardly anything. It can get kind of boring, but its kind of nice, too. I can do homework at school, and we are also the highest paid student workers @ $10/hr. I love it!

OK, so why did I go into all of that? I have no idea... :lol:

I guess I just wanted to say a lot of jobs are boring, but most are just annoying. Its getting a job that I love that I'm personally seeking... namely touring.

Anyway... you can always do what I do... just find something new to research... my latest thing is guns.

i work in a shipping line....our company repairs telecommunication stuff.....there's a ton of different things, but the majorities are teleconferencing/business type phones....

its always been a laidblack place.....but the past couple weeks have just felt slow....and usually christmas time is heavy because most of the permanents use their vacation time, so i would be doing the whole shipping process myself

i only get 10/hour too brandon....its nice for a college student, but its sad to know that the old ladies that i work with are getting paid 25-30/hour to do the same boring crap that i do

i cant complain, 10/hour feels like an overpay compared to the crap i did as a teenager.....i nice to get to sit on my bum, chat my phone, surf the net, and blast my music on these old ladies...there are men here too, but im stuck with all the women!

Never a dull day at my job. always somethign new and exciting popping up. or some sort of "fire" to put out. I am a MFG Rep and deal with national retail chains.

im thinking of putting up a nano tank here in my sister's office....but plan on waiting til after the holidays.....so atleast one of us will be here everyday to manage it

Set up a nice frag tank and grow frags, then once a year you can go the frag swap and make enough money to pay for new frags

Cause every time I go to a frag swap I just spend money, :rollface:

I had that same problem at my last job, John. I was working at a rep firm for high-end consumer audio and video gear. We definitely had busy times, but 80% of the time I was here on RC. (This was in '05 when I had two tanks running)

Now that I have my own business, things aren't nearly as slow!

Brandon, we need to go shooting! That's my #1 pastime right now. I'm a revolver guy at heart. Classic S&Ws are my weak spot. I also reload everything I shoot (except .22lr, of course) Do you ever shoot at On Target on Thompson Ln? I'm usually there 3-5x a month. Jump over to www.tngunowners.com and join up there, too. There are a bunch of us in Rutherford county, and just like MTRC, they're all great guys and gals. We had a great time two weekends ago; about 18 of us met at Famous Dave's here in Smyrna, then we went down to On Target to shoot. We'll be doing it again on Jan 19th, and you're more than welcom to come!

Manufacturers rep. I sell stuf to companies that sell it to you. marketing consultant, middleman etc...
