We've been dealing with a terrible pool contractor. When we hired them they had decent rreviews and we're members of the BBB since then they have lost all BBB accreditation yet they still have those signs up saying they are. They don't answer calls or ema ils, but the contract doesn'thave a end date so it seems like they feel they can come every month and a half and work for an hour.

Hope you didn't pay him in full. Read the contract. Is there a finish date. I always make sure there is one. If it isn't finished by then or within a reasonable time after the date then 10%+ is deducted. Make them inital it. Some contractors won't go for this. The ones that do are confident in their ability to finish in time. Those are the ones I want.

I know this won't help now, but often a "threat" from an attorney works wonders.

Hope his name isn't george boria. Guy ripped me off for $1800 & then moved to FL. Was supposed to install a safety cover, took measurements & never came back.

You can try calling the news media in your area . They some time can get something going on there phone calls you see it all the time up here in west palm ! Good luck

and gently encorage him to finish up!

Seriously tho, contact the department of professional regulations for your county and report him.

Always pay up front dep with a CC then make sure you have it in writing of a finish date and if there is a problem just dispute the charge and they will take back the money from his account ....if he wont take a CC or agree to a finish date then you know he isnt what you want and tell them that up front ......

I agree with Matt about charging the deposit. Some places don't want you to use a charge card or they want to charge you the fee the card company does. Try to split the fee with them. If they say they need a large deposit to pay for the supplies, I would be wary. If they don't have enough money as a business for the supplies, they I wouldn't deal with them.

I know this info is to late to help now, but I wish you the best of luck.

LOL, when did RC become a online dating site! :love1:LOL
I've been ripped of before and there's almost no action you can take legally against those contractors! You have to do your due diligence before contract or you will hold the blade and they hold the handle of the knife. Good luck with your project.

We have payed with cc, we didn't have a end date so they basically say there hasn't been a breach of contract.

My wife isan atto rney, but we are trying to avoid that since once we file suit, I'm sure all work will completely stop.

Im surprised thats genie pools. Theyve been around for quite awhile. Guess you can never be sure enough.

That's what we thought. It's just been ridiculous they broke ground 10/3/13 and we still aren't close to being done. First they dug the hole in the wrong place, broke a sewer line, finally came back and fixed the hole and repaired the sewer like everyone again. Couple weeks later the inspector came to check the steal, and I asked him about the sewer line. This was 4 weeks + after they broke the line. They still had not even applied for sewer permit, It wasn't to code. They didn't have the correct plans on property, so he failed them and gave us a violation. Nothing happened for the next month plus. Finally they got the sewer line done(yet I'm not sure if it passed or not). A week after that they finally sprayed the gunite, since then they have maybe worked 3 days since before Christmas.

Doesn't look good from the reviews. I feel for you in that position! Been then and lost alot of $. The way the law is in fl is totally in favor for contractors. Wish you guys the best. For the reefer whos about to sign, we used a company called tuttle pools. In our experience we have one word to describe our experience on them building our pool, "excellent" . But please do your own due diligence on them or any other company before you sign a contract and always make sure you get your final inspection on any project, along with a final release of liens before paying in full. If you dont have a release of lien signed and notorized, YOU will be held responsible if a contractor did not pay a subcontractor or a supply source for anything used on your project! So please do your research even if someone recommends a contractor to do a job. Also make sure you sign with the person who actually holds the license as there are contractors who are lending their license # to other contractors and are getting kick backs on any jobs that the non licensed contractor is doing and whenever something goes wrong the say that the non license contractor "stole" their license#. Obviously i have a serious sore spot on this subject!
