OT computer help needed

Ok i'm at the end my rope here. I'm good with computers but this is beyond me. My company installed a Cisco VPN client and i'm sure its to blame but they deny it. My CPU runs at a high percentage all the time. The thread i trace down is ntdll.dll!RtlAllocateHeap+0x18c and when i go through all the processes attached to svchost thats using the CPU and kill them one by one its netman or something attacehd to it that is using all the CPU power. I can't kill netman or the network is going to go bonkers. I tried 3 anti virus programs, a registry cleaner and seveal spyware checkers and all came up clean.... Help, i can't pay the $99 to call for help and find out they don't know and our the company our that does our IT says its nothing they did even though thats when it started.

What OS is this on? I use the Cisco VPN without issues on Vista Ultimate (which is a totally different animal than Home unlike the difference of XP Home and Pro).

I would also verify that you have the most recent version of the client (I run 5.0.02.0090, but I am not sure if even that is the most recent).

One major way to test is to uninstall the client and see the result, then re-install it and watch for the spike again. If you can re-create it that way, then IT should not be able to deny it (although they probably do not know enough about the product to solve it).

I am not Cisco expert by far, but this is what I would do to start with at least - then the call to Cisco. If Cisco says it was their problem, then you shouldn't have to pay anyways....

i'm using XP pro, the problem is the IT guys did not give me a copy of the client, they insisted they install it. I knew better than to let anyone touch my laptop. And i'm using the same version of VPN as you.

you can do a cpvn start or stop to stop the processes.
you may want to go in and disable the stateful firewall as it is always on and could cause issues with apps.
I am a CCNP... cisco certified and the only issue I would see is the firewall being on.
try a start>run> cvpn stop
this should stop all cisco services for that software.

i'll try that, i used process explorer to shut down the process and it does not seem to affect anything critical. They lost the qwest circuit this afternoon so i can't even test to see if the VPN works as is, i have to wait until tommorow. Thanks everyone.

comes up with the can't find error. There is a cvpnd but no way to tell it to stop.

I was thinking more the Format C: and pitch it out the window I feel your pain though took me a few times to get mine running but not sure how to fix your issue.
