OT - Fishing

Anyone have recommendations on local fishing holes? Bass, cats, crappie, etc. I don't have a boat so it's gotta be bank fishable.

If it's a secret you're willing to share, shoot me a PM - I won't let it out. I don't get an opportunity to go out very often and I promise to catch and release.

Thanks in advance!

I sent you a PM.

But this area has all kinds of fishing opps, depends on what you want and how picky you are.

Give me a call, and if you can come to the meeting the end of June, bring a map of the area. Shelby farms has some good bank fishing at times if you do not mind the crowds, and there are several lakes if you look around the park, but there is an awful lot of "small public water" in and around memphis that gets overlooked.

Barlett has several small Lakes at the different parks in that city that have some good fish in them. Two behind Krystal on Stage Rd.

There is also, Glenn Springs Lake, and Herb Parsons both managed by the state within just a few minutes of Memphis that have good bank fishing and also have boat rentals pretty reasonable.

Shelby forest state park also has two good sized lakes that offer good bank fishing, Piersol and Poplar Tree with Poplar tree being the biggest and having boat rentals.

Along Wolf River Blvd. between, Walnut Grove and Germantown and then all the way to Collierville are "borrow pits" that have some really good fish in them and very little pressure. Some are hard to access, but you can see most of them from the road, and they do not get fished a lot and have some really nice bass, crappie and bream in them. They get restocked after every real heavy rain, by the Wolf River, but I could not "suggest" that you eat the fish from that part of the wolf, but many do.

That ought to be enough to get you started within 30 minutes of Memphis and in Tennessee.

Do you have any kids?? If you do we can get you fixed up!!

Whew - That was a lot of good info - Thanks! I do have kids but they live with their mother in CA.
I'll have to try and make it around to some of the places you listed in the coming days.
Thanks!
