OT help: visiting Chicago

Buckeye ME

In Memoriam
Well I'm visiting Chicago the weekend of 8/25-8/27 and plan on proposing to my girlfriend there. I've only been to Chicago once for a short period of time, so I'm looking for some input and help setting things up.

Right now I'm thinking about either doing it at Shedd (she loves dolphins) or the Hancock observatory. I've never been to Shedd though, so I'm not familiar enough with it to pick a spot to propose. If anyone knows someone who works there who would be willing to give input or is familiar enough with it to recommend something I would greatly appreciate it.

If you have any other recommendations for proposing in the city I'm open to that too. We are staying at Hotel Allegro, so we will be right downtown.

Thanks in advance!

If you're not the shy type, I'm sure you could work out something w/the staff to do it during the dolphin show & incorporate them somehow. How cool would that be?!

yeah, like maybe somehow get the trainers to have one of the dolphins bring her the ring....ok...maybe that's not a good idea, but I vote for getting the staff to do something during the dolphin show since she has a love for them....

She'll never forget it....guaranteed.

Quite a few people propse here.

A little nicer then the observatory in my opinion. If you're both okay with heights, then I'd suggest you request a table by the window. Pick a clear day and do it at night. A beautiful view, and it gives you a chance to dress up.

Then on the following day, take her to the Shedd to top off the trip.

Grant Fountain? You could have a professional video/photographer there pretending to do a shoot and when you pop the question....they get it on film?

That sounds like a great idea, but keep in mind that nothing like that happens without some form of donation. Remember the Shedd is still privately funded.

What kind of "donation" do you think I'd be looking at?

I tried emailing them for some input but never heard back.

My friend did it at the brookfield zoo, dolphin show. He set it all up.

They pick two people out of the audience (obviously them). Then they show you how the dolphins will fetch a ball. Then they say it will only bring back a ball with something in it (the ring).

They keep saying its the empty ball when the throw it and it makes it look like the dolphin is messing up.

Then they make the girl open it and you get on one knee and hope for the best. your in front of alot of people!

I'm not sure what the cost was, if any.

Good luck,

I personally would do it in the new lizard exibit, jk, good luck man, sounds like everyone hear is favorign the dolphin idea, YEA, seems a bit more romantic than at the top of a very tall building, unless she's an architect or something
