Yup That Stuff
hey guys i thought this was kinda neat. we go a set of mcintosh applifiers yesterday and they are from les paul. very old and kinda dirty but pretty cool non the less.

yes. he droped them off to a place in jersey and they brought them up here. i beleive they are going to a museium of some sort.

please keep us posted where Les's amps end up.

FWIW Les never approved of the final Gibson Les Paul guitar design. He was originally known for his recordings with Mary Ford, but nowadays most people associate his name with the guitar. Gibson Guitars has many ties to New York.
Orville Gibson (the company namesake and founder) was originally from Franklin County. One of the guys that saved Gibson (back in the mid '80's) is originally from Rochester, NY and currently serves as chairman & CEO:

One of the biggest mistakes I've ever made was selling my Les Paul to purchase a chiller for my aquarium. Oh well, live and learn.

That's a bummer! I've done stuff like that too, at the time, you think, "Ah, I don't use that anymore." But you don't realize how much you miss it.

will do i wont know untill we get the shipping info. i was talkin to oldimpala and he just saw les play down in the city. @ 92 almost 93 years old he plays almost every mon at a jazz bar in NYC.

I can't believe Les still does that gig.
OTOH it's probably one of the reasons he's still going strong.

That is really cool! Anyone who is anyone owns McIntosh stuff :D

Not everyone who is anyone is able to afford McIntosh (however much we may aspire to!)

Some of us have McIntosh tastes but a Denon budget.

Still, it must have been very cool to see the equipment used by a legend.

BTW there was an American Masters on PBS about Les Paul a couple of months ago. The guy did not just invent the solid body electric guitar, but most of modern recording as it was done for 40 or so years before digital.

yea i was reading up on Lester last night. he has lead a very interesting life. it would be cool to go and listen to him play down in NYC before he gets to old.

Fatrip-

As if 92 isn't too old already... :)

The guy still rips. What can I say.. In case you're curious, it's called Club Iridium. Nice place; great musicians!

lol yea....was the club packed? i would really like to get down there before he does get to old and stops...lol..

Not excessively...

Do be prepared for the $20 cover (Though it's worth it), and the $15 Hendrick's & Tonic I drink (A $7 drink in Buffalo, and prolly Bingo), or $12 Guinness. Amazing show; amazing musician; worth the drive.

But, heck, it's Les-frickin-Paul. And it's a fairly small club. It would be about half the size of whatever they call the old Chuck-E-Cheeze country bar (I forget the name.)

If you're ever up in this neck of the woods, it's like seeing a show at the Tralf. Awesome location...

I wish I could have taken Pics.

that isnt a bad cover at all. the guinness is a little accsesive but i can cut back to 2...lol...

smaller than magic city...huh...lol i think that is the name it seems to change frequently..

ill have to plan a trip down some mon night. thanks for the info andy. :)

If you are into dive bars like myself, check out Tortilla Flats in the meatpacking district. Good time little dive bar with cheap trays of shooters during happy hour. Cheap for the area anyway.

hey guys, so i finally got Les Pauls 50w-2 amp back to gether and as clean an shiny as i could posibly get it. Now it is off to Jersey and then it will be shiped to its final resting place in the Smithsonian Institue of Tech. I am not sure why or what they have planed for it but that is where it is headed. I will post some pics tonight cause i cant dl a editing program to shrink the pics on this comp at work.
