Hi Guys, my uncle wants to buy a cheap laptop for his daughter. I saw this on Circuit City's website. I don't use AMD chipset so I don't know what the performance like. Any feedback would be cool :) .. TIA!!

Although AMD sometimes is a bit behind Intel in development, I find that thier chips are of good quality and performance. I've never had a problem with them in laptops or desktops. They are a great bargain for someone that doesnt need the latest and greatest all the time.

Just go to deals2buy.com and get a cheap dell with Intel chipset. The AMDs are great for gaming desktops, but I'd shy away from the Sempron.

Cool, thanks guys..

if anyone knows any other places selling cheap/reliable notebook, please LMK :D ..

I will never put an AMD in my notebook. At least

You can't get any anything less than a dual core anymore.

Try beating the following specs for 599+tax
1.73 core 2 duo
2gb DDR2 Ram
14.1 WXVGA (w/True Life)
Dual layer DVDRW
Windows Vista or XP Home
120gb HDD

BTW: Unless you're looking for a desktop replacement, you don't want to go with any larger screens larger than 14" screen.

all the other specs are just noise. If you're patient, I'll find you one. :P

Can anyone guess who's the manufacture? I'm sure one of you geek can figure it out by the specs.

My old dell laptop broke down many times, luckily it was always under warranty. Their customer service however, sucks big time. I would agree with the get intel statement. Intel just has the better chips right now.
