OT: Open Invitation -DEEP SEA FISHING TRIP-

Check this out.

http://www.ensenada.com/selena/index.html

I would go with you guys but im going this weekend and at the beggining of November so I think im good but it would only be $125 per person, and if you went overnight out of San Diego you would be looking at about $160 plus fuel surcharges so you would be looking at around $200 plus galley tabs, fish cleaning, jackpot, etc........

the last thing you want is crossed lines!!!! :)

I have a 22 foot grady white sportfisher with a 200 johnson, and it has been a sad year for me for fishin... I just havent had the time, and my boat broke on me 2 time before I got it running right the third time... ( engine issues... fried two coils )

fixed now, but still getting the time to go is hard... last time we went out we went about 85 miles for a bonito and a yellowtail which were both caught at the domes.

We were seeing jumping dorado around us too on one paddy and a few people were hooked up, but the fish gods just werent with us on that day...

At least the boat ran good after I got it fixed...
But another funny... I had some old gas in it ( 2.07 a gallon ), and I burned it all out that day.. Boat ran out of gas when I was flushing the motor, I really cut it close that day :)

Boat holds 150 gals of gas, and gets 1.5-1.7 mpg, and burns about 30-40 dollars worth of oil in about 80 miles... ( 1 gal )

But I have had some EPIC trips in that boat...40 lb yellowfin tuna, 20+ albacore tuna on the boat at one time... 30 lb yellows, 15-20 lb dodo's, a 250 lb mako shark ( estimated ) broke line but got it to boat... at least 7-8 feet long... Big threshers broke line on those too ( I dont usually shark fish, too much hassle )

one day we got 10 WSB too, all undersized of course... 20-40lb halibut. countless bass.....

We used to tow the boat down to san diego and fish offshore from there, those days you never turn off the engine, for if it doesnt start again, you are floating.... No vessel assist in mexican waters... ( we had proper permits of course, and mexican licenses )

I wish you guys luck, there is nothing like the salt air, and the blue ocean, and the sight of a bent rod, or your trollers going off ZZZZZZZZZZZZ...

Me and my wife caught 5 yellowfin tuna 8 miles off dana point 2 yrs ago, we were just sscrewing around.. and the area looked fishy so I put in the jigs with my favorite secret tuna jigs.. she had a great time... ( no bait )

I wish I had the time... dreamm.... :))))

we need a vote... LOCAL FISHING or OVERNIGHT SD....

How about overnight local to Catalina - overnight SD sounds good but who's going to feed our tanks?

You are better off doing an overnight to san clemente island... not much more in price, and you have a chance for tuna and dorado...

Only yellowtail and bonito at catalina, maybe a dodo on the way there....

after this thread...im going to start another one with ALL the PROPER info on the trip... im going bodyboarding right after i leave the office... Newport 40th st. :p i will be back on tonight and we can see what the count looks like and take a solid vote on what the "PEOPLE OF RC" want :D
be back later... hit up ur fellow reefers and fishing buddies... i'll bring the beer :D

I'm in for local but overnight is not possible with two little girls. Hey i want to see some big catch of all these fishing reefers to get people going. I will post mine pic later. gotta go get milk for the baby
Kenny

ok... list wil be updated as we go along...
votes are...

Cris--- anything
Kenny--- local
beefjerkygood--- local (?)
®eefer--- SD
reef_doug--- anything (?as long as its not a saturday:p?)
SteveOhh--- needs to get on the boat already :D
turtlespd--- anything
Bayslayer--- needs a few less excusses :D

only issues i see so far is no one really wants a cattle boat... so a sunday port seems more logical?

well if enough members rsvp you can hire a charter for a few hundred out of SD. I would be better bet for catching tuna a dodo on a overnighter

sounds like a great idea... money will have to be collected about 1 week in advance if that is the case...

can i get an " I " for all those that agree... or a " Nay" for those that may object ;)

if i remember correctly... i think someone said something about knowing someone with a boat, or someone was chartering a boat this weekend.... i wanna hear how the skipper did with the trip... :p

Bayslayer... just checked the link you sent... looks interesting... you guys check this link, tell me what you think

cant fit as many as i hoped but we need to see how many ppl are truely serious anyways... 1 person has PMd me so far and has already held a spot... renting this charter will allow for a Saturday trip and be more easyer for those who would prefer to avoid cattle boats!

I need to pass on the Ensendada option, sounds great but I only have Mon & Tues off and would not be able to go due to traveling time. Should be a great trip, the fishing is excellent out of there!

Heres some pics of the Ensenada trip we just did, fishing was good but a little on the small side but we still got em. Boat was cool but if we had 8 people there would have been some serious spooning but it could fish 8 no problem. We stopped in Puerto Nuevo for a lobster dinner which was excellent. Weather was a little ruff, 6' swell with about 2-3 wind swell, wind blowing about 20 and overcast in the morning with some sun in the afternoon. All in all it was worth it and would deffinetly do it again.
