OT: Planning a cruise, need some ideas...

Recession

Recession

1. New House

2. New Tank

3. Cruise

Glad to see the recession is not touching everyone!!
Have a great time and your new tank looks really
good.

It shouldn't take 4 months to get your passport. When I did mine a few years back, it was much faster than they said to plan for, something around 4-5 weeks. If you still have 4 months between now and your trip, there's no need to pay for the rush. It will be done well before then.

Not sure how long you have in Belize, but be sure to do some kind of excursion, whether through the cruise operator or on your own. Belize is an AMAZING country, and Belize City is not at all representative of what Belize has to offer. If you spend your time in Belize City, you'll be sorely disappointed. If you're not a diver, I'd recommend the Caves Branch tubing trip - floating down the Caves Branch river on an inner tube through a series of caves in the rainforest. AWESOME.

LOL, just had some good fortune lately I guess. I say when things are cheap ya GOTTA snag them up! I am doing my part to stimulate the economy LOL! I would NEVER have been able to afford the house that I got for the price without all the foreclosures.

Without the house I would have never bought a new tank because I didnt want to move it more than once...

The cruise is my tax return from the house LOL. So all worked out in a round about sort of way. About time, as I always have HORRIBLE luck. Maybe its a changin!

Good info Eva! Will check it out for sure.
I have the paperwork for the passports now it said 4-5 weeks so shouldn't be a problem. We might even bump it back to September, so I can get an inside room not up front. I don't want to feel any sway. I still have to get my return in hand before I am 100% but HOPEFULLY we will be going.

ALSO I am not certified but have done discover scuba in Catalina several times and also in Hawaii, do they not offer that where I am going? Not sure if I have the $$ to get certified but I guess snorkel will always work worst case.

In lots of places, snorkeling is fine. Sure, you have to surface to breathe, but in a spot where the reef is within about 15-20 ft of the surface, it's only an inconvenience.

If you are not certified, often the scuba outfits will still let you dive but they will charge you a little more and a scuba instructor will accompany you.
