OT: ps3's nobody waiting in line for any of these?

A friend of mine was in line overnight at one of the Best Buy's in Tampa and he missed one by 3 people. He was called me this morning po'ed because some guy was ahead and him with 6 kids and had each one get a system so he could fill an ebay pre-order deal he had where he pre-sold each one for $1600. This guy ended up getting 7 of the 12 that store had.

Aquatic Hamster: Wow, $600 to play a video game? Kudos to the marketers of playstation for creating all the hype.

I am sure video game fans would say the same thing if we told them how much we spend on our tanks. Unfortunetly for me I am into both.

True, everybody has their vice. Its just suprising to me because new generations of technology are almost always more powerful and cheaper. The new box must have some revolutionary stuff. As you can tell, I'm not into the gaming scene. Cleaning out a skimmer is enough fun for me. :)

i don't get it, this is just a video game and if you wait 6 months they will be all over tha market for half the retail price and if you wait 1 year you will be able to get them at a pawn shops. Some body buying one of these things on ebay for 1600$ needs to have there head checked. Really thinkabout in 6 months the technogly will be out done by somebody else and the whole madness will start over again

Dude what a joke.. PS3 has NO GOOD GAMES out.. so why blow all your money when there is nothing fun to play... 360 has all the good games right now.. and with xbox live there is no comparison.. sony's ps3 is a high priced joke...

We don't see it much with new technology with our tanks but it deffinately exists in the hobby with livestock. Take the "it" coral fads that are always out there. Last year the "limited edition" montiporas were all over the net like the Superman, rainbow, sunset, etc. Small 1/2" frags selling for $80-$100. This year Zoa's have really taken off and some are selling for $50 a polyp. There is even a zoa called "Orange Envy" that sells for $600 per polyp http://reefenvy.com/Zoanthids.html. The crazy thing about the later is there are reports that the polyps are not known to readily multiply in captivity so you are stuck with one 1/4" orange zoa polyp for $600 smackers but they readily sell out whenever they get collected.

maybe not for release, but playstation will always dominate in the games department. I have a buddy that works at bestbuy, and says they have both the 360 and ps3 display models setup on top of the line plasma's. He says the ps3 crushes the 360, like night and day. I personally haven't seen the comparison, just stating what he described.
