OT - RC Airplanes

Um, yeah, then can you explain why my heli looks like this?

I finally got my Skywalker done (minus OSD though) and if it isn't too windy I might try it tomorrow. I was sick the first of the week so I didn't feel like working on anything. The rest of the time I worked late so I didn't have time. Today I worked on the plane most of the day but I still haven't had time to fix my heli.

I was going to try my Headplay goggles but for some reason the power light comes on but the display is blank. I have been reading up on them and it seems like it is a common problem. I fixed my heavily modded Trimersion and it seems to be working well so I may just send the Headplay back for a refund.

I got an email about 2 weeks ago telling me he hasn't started repairing it yet and wanting to know where I got it from since it wasn't in their system. Since then I haven't heard anything.

Yep, and here is the proof.

The wind was very strong and gusty but the plane handled it just fine. I actually got disoriented at one point when it blew downwind and I didn't know where I was. I was was down around the cell tower but didn't know which way was home. I finally figured out where the sun was in relation to the tower and found my way back. In the video I can obviously see which way I needed to go but it is harder to see details when you are viewing the screen outside. I got my modded trimersion goggles done but didn't use them since I wanted to be able to look up at the plane in case something happened. I will try them out when I get more comfortable.

Thanks, I think most of the shaking was due to the wind. You can tell how windy it was because when I was doing turns going from downwind to upwind the plane is actually moving sideways. I can't wait to try it on a calm day.

Got a couple good flights in this afternoon before it started getting stormy in Columbia. The Cub actually few very well (no weird turns on its own). Engine still sounds funky though .. but no dead sticks :)

Hi everyone I am 68551's husband.. She showed me this thread and thought I had hijacked the website.. LOL.. I fly FAI F5B and pylon racers.. all electric.. My F5B planes have a climb rate over 10,000fpm and run oversquare 16x17 props, over 200 amps of current. Anyone interested in this kind of RC flying? I think I have more total investment in my hobby than my wife does with her aquarium hobby but it's close!.

It got stormy this afternoon? Here it rained all morning but has been nice since then.

Dark black clouds were moving in out there. It was really nice for the most part, but when the dark clouds moved in and it started sprinkling a bit, I packed up. Nothing major, it stopped as soon as I got the car packed of course :)

Wow. Very cool! That's a bit too much for me though

Mike that video is very impressive! The quality is unbelievable. So it gives you a live feed from the camera, plus still records to internal memory?

Got a few more flights in today until it got stormy.

Decided to switch over to all LiFe batteries. Had a small mishap with the Stik while installing the new battery pack, apparently something shorted out and it started smoking badly. I don't know why it shorted out as I hooked the 2nd power lead up to the on-board glow the same way I did on the cub (so I could use one battery instead of 2) ... the cub is fine, the Stik nearly caught on fire. Bizarre. I think it may be the old power switch, so I'm going to replace the switch, hopefully salvage the on-board glow ignitor and replace some wiring.

I'm probably heading out to the field tomorrow. I finally got my 600N fixed and worked out some bugs in my Skywalker so it should work even better. I have a Dragon Link on the way so I won't have to worry about range issues. :)

PAC had a sale on Friday... 25% off EVERYthing in the store! Except a few select items (the DX8 being one of them). So I picked up one of these: http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=1277

I was planning on getting one, anyway... just as well save $25. :D

They didn't have any BNF's in stock, only RTFs, so I'm supposed to go pick it up on Wednesday... unfortunately, I also fly out on Wednesday, so I will probably have to wait until Saturday. :(

Hey all, Just started in on this hobby. Bought an Ember2 from my brother for cheap. Most days are way too windy for it. Now I am looking for something else to get that will handle some wind so I can get some stick time. Are there any stores in the Nashville area? None up here in Ky, maybe one mom and pop shop but nothing serious. Looking at the new eRC J-5 trainer. Pretty sweet looking for a noob like myself. Anyone with a 6ch tx for sale? The J-5 comes with a 5 ch but a nicer 6-7 ch would be awesome. Mark
