I finally got to fly my Mini Katana on Wed and today. I am using the new nano-tech turnigy batteries and all I can say is wow.... 2200mah takes about 20 mins on my charger (only charges to a Max of 7.5 Amps :thumbdown: )can be charged up to 12 Amps. I am getting anywhere from 10-17 min flight times out of them. No controller cutouts due to over voltage draw either. Smooth batteries

Brandon, These are the nano-tech, so you can charge them at 5C and they have up to 50C discharge rates... thats crazy. I got 2 of those batteries so i can keep flying. But I also have the other planes and about 10 other batteries to keep me flying . That charger works fine, i think I have spent enough :lol:
Zach, that is crazy.... I think lithium will play a part in powering nano technology. unless some one invents some other type of battery.

I thought I had burnt this OSD up too for a minute. I plugged everything in and nothing happened. I got a faint burning smell at about the same time so I unplugged everything and checked all the connections. Everything seemed okay until I figured out I had hooked the BEC up to the video TX which takes 12V instead of 5V. I redid that and everything worked! Not sure what the burning smell was but I was greatly relieved when the display came up. I even took it outside and it got a GPS lock. Now I just need to figure out how to configure everything.

Scratch that! It looks like my DOSD died on me. I had it working great and redid some stuff and when I plugged it back in something went poof and smoked. Only thing I can think of it possibly my current sensor was plugged in 1 pin over from where is should have been. Not really sure though since I unplugged everything to see what I burned up. It might have just died for no reason, I don't know. I posted on the DOSD thread on RCGroups and the designer of it said not to worry, we will get it straightened out. A lot more than I can say about range video.
Hopefully they help you out with it soon.

They are. The guy told me to send it back and he would send me a new one free of charge. 
For some reason, I have been having a hard time with the FPV stuff. I am usually pretty careful when hooking stuff up but lately I have been overlooking the obvious. They have a 4 pin header sticking out and I stuck the 3 pin servo plug one pin over. They said the extra pin was for something else but I don't remember what.

Hey guys. You original topic said RC airplanes, but I just glanced through it a bit and noticed some heli action here also.
I just received my first 4 channel fixed pitch honey bee V2 and now trying to learn the hover. I can only keep it up a short bit before I start loosing it and sit it back down. I'm keeping it low and slow right now. I just installed FMS and have the Esky USB controller to go with it. I'll get some practice in and hopefully get the hover mastered sometime next year. I have thought about getting a plane later on. Maybe a J3 Cub with the brushless motor, but I'm not sure about it yet. I just need to concentrate on the heli for now.
You guys are about 2 hours away from me, but when the weather warms up I may head over your way and check out all the setups you all have at your local field.
Oh, I would love to see that OSD in action when you get everything worked out.

Those small fixed pitch helis are pretty hard to fly sometimes. If you can hover that a bigger one will be pretty easy. I hope I get the OSD working too. It seems like nothing goes my way lately with electronics.
I thought about taking my plane out in the back yard and getting some videos of the snow but then i realized if I get it in the air I probably will get a white out and can't see anything. Maybe if I had something with RTH on it but without that I am not going to try. It is also pretty windy now. Maybe after it stops I'll give it a shot if the winds calm down.
