OT: Remodeling Bathroom - Where to buy fixtures and bathtub?

David - Miami

Aquanot!
I am in the process of remodeling my own bathroom in my apartment. I want to buy a bathtub with jets and nice faucets and fixtures for the sink and shower. I also will need a vanity and sink.
I am not that into Home Depot or Lowe's and I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions where to shop for these items other than there.
Given the current economy I would like it to be reasonably priced.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. TIA.

I think for the fixtures you can try benson lighting or southdade lighting on us1 and like 26 or 27 west side . if u go to benson lighting ask for Ale hes a good guy tell him mike from kc electric referred u and maybe u can working something out . but i have to tell u homedepot will me cheaper but olny if u want cheap stuff. good luck

Home Depot is great for building supplies but I found Lowes to be better for home decor. Special ordering products from Lowes is much easier. You can't get any cheaper then Lowes and HD. Just remember, you get what you paid for.

You don't really think that DirectBuy is a good deal do you? I mean, I can remodel my whole 1800 sqft. house with $5000. jk. But really that is biggest rip ever! My neighbor bought into it and he spent almost $20K on his kitchen, I spent $5000 in Miami on 79th Ave. and mine looks better than his. Just need to know where to buy. I would start by paying Smart Buy USA on 79th a visit.

Speckled are you saying the same thing as Santiago?

Yes, essentially. I don't remember whether the place I shopped was the same as he said, but there are quite a few on that street together with a million tile stores to give you ideas.

My 35 year old bathroom now looks like this

wow speckled that is beautiful, great job. Did you design that yourself. Im studying interior design and cant tell you i would have done anything different.

I went with HD and Lowe's and it didn't turn out too bad. HD Expo for a few of the parts.

This room started out as one level with the drop down plexiglass ceiling (UGLY).
It had a bathtub in it that I took out. I had to raise the floor in order to have a "step down" into the shower area. Slate on shower walls. Marble on shower floor and ceiling. A regular door was replaced with a pocket door that goes from floor to ceiling.

36th street shops are where I've bought most of my tile and other big items for bath. Home depot for fixtures and a lot of the smaller things.

Coralfragger, nice bathroom design. I like the red paint. Makes the moldings and trim stand out. I can only imagine how you set up your display tank.
