OT - Reptile keepers?

Although I still have a huge passion for this hobby, I sold off my stuff a while ago, when money was very tight. I have a craving to get back in the swing of things, but my current residence just doesn't permit the space for me to have tanks up and going.

I was wondering...how many of us, here, are also reptile keepers?

I currently keep Burmese Pythons, Reticulated Pythons, Australian Water Pythons, a few small species of Monitor and a Crocodile Monitor, that's pushing 8 feet long.

Any other people, from our area, keep reptiles? I can talk, till I'm blue in the face, with people I know that keep reptiles. But, as soon as I start talking about tank filtration, species of fish, plumbing and lighting issues, they just look at me like I'm speaking Chinese.

you like all the big snakes and monitors

i have a wide range in the past from geckos to ackies, I had a green tree python until it bit me and i didnt want that to happen to myself again

right now i have a pair of poison dart frogs and soon to be another pair

When I was younger I was big into reptiles. I kept several different monitors, tegus, a even a couple alligators. I bred leopard geckos and several different species of day geckos as well. Currently, I don't keep anything other than the reef tank but I am considering keeping dart frogs, day geckos, or old world chameleons again

when i was in HS i had a 2000g homemade tank for bearded dragons.
it was so big we designed it so i could walk across the top of it, cause it took up 3/5 of my room...

That's really cool. My girlfriend likes the smaller lizards, but I'm not too in to them.

I thought, for sure, there'd be more of us around here.

here is the ones i have right now

Very cool, Chadfarmer. I just sold off the last of my Dart frogs about 3 months ago, but am in the process of doing some rearranging and getting some more. At one point I had upwards of 150 frogs and the wife was getting a bit grumpy about it.....8-) I'll see if I can dig up some pics.

Very cool, guys! I like little Dart Frogs.

My problem is that I always end up with the big species. lol

I'm looking into more color morphs of Retics, now. I have my heart set on a pair of albinos.

over the years I've had quite a few reptiles..
Bearded drags, turtles, brown roughneck monitor, and at one time a 7 ft red tail boa....
I got out of reptiles and into SW...
the reptiles were alot less work :P

i remember seeing bob clark selling an albino at the flordia show for crazy money about 5 years

Yeah, when they first came out, they were rediculous.

The price, for regular albinos, has came down to less than $500.

There are now new color morphs, of albino (albino Tiger, albino Supertiger, etc) that are selling for more than $1000.

There's a company, on the east coast, called NERD, that sells the highest of end Retics.

A few months ago, they were selling a PAIR (two snakes) for $27,500 and people were fighting over them.

The bad thing about the newest things coming out is that within a year or two, they all drop in price drastically. Snakes, that were $5000 last year, are now selling for less than $1000.
