OT: Slingers v2.0

my brother wants a slinger while he's here

are there any places that sell them on the west side of the metro area?

There is a Dinner downtown right across the street from me that was rated the best in St. Louis.

Every place that has good slingers is within 20 minutes of you with a few exceptions. Only problem I see is they're only good when serious drinking is involved so you should be looking for one within walking distance

besides pizza this will be my first "st louis food" that Ive tried and Ive lived here for 11.5 months now

mmmmm....

I guess the last one left is up north, I miss the one in union station after a blues game. Is it still there?

It is a Hodges downtown. Turn right onto pine street off of broadway, right across the street from the Met Square building.

Also for a nice treet Calecos right around the corner has a couple of nice reef tanks in it.

wow just looked at the menu they call their super slinger a Top Gun and you can even have a glass of wine with your slinger. Now thats fancy

that place has a hilarious menu, especially the "mac-ala-mode"

spaghetti topped with two eggs......covered with chile

hilarious

I am trying to find an easy way to tell you you will be let down, but I can't.

Depending on where you came from, St. Louis food can be pretty bad.

we're still gonna give it a whirl

I dont like st louis pizza, so if Im let down, oh well, it was worth a shot

there's still ted drew's...I havent had that yet

Oh no he didn't.....

Don't like St. Louis pizza? I suppose you'd rather have that huge pile of bread dough stuff topped with low grade cheese food?

:eek2: :eek2: :eek2:

Fine if you want a tasty snack.
Cracker with cheese?

St. Louis tries so hard to be opposite Chicago that they have destroyed nearly all trace of decent food (and no, I am not from Chicago).

We won't even discuss the Mexican food here, wow. :sad1:

In most cities, a St. Louis style pizza would be laughed out of town.

St. Louis tries so hard to be opposite Chicago that they have destroyed nearly all trace of decent food (and no, I am not from Chicago).

You want a good pizza, the closest I have found yet is to take a trip to Springfield, Il. and go to Godfathers. No cheap cheese on that. Sad thing is, even that, does not compare to some Pizza I have had. Another decent one is Old Chicago in Columbia, Mo.

Expect to pay more than $5 for a pizza, but you will get your moneys worth.

And don't even get me started on the Mexican food here. :sad1:
I think there is a few select quality food places in each genre of food.. and yes I do personally like cracker crust it allows you to taste the toppings not just bread. But I also always ask them mix mozz with the cheap cheese. But with all that said anytime that the local papers favorite food list (rft) comes out and 80% of the favorites are from a chain then yes it shows that our taste buds are easily placated. I search out mom and pop establishments and avoid chains as much as I can.

Saint Louis has awesome restaurants...you just have to know where to look;)

As for pizza, that is a personal topic that is near and dear to my heart, but we do have several pizza places here that are most tasty! If you need some pointers just let me know and I will give you a few.

Thanks, I would love some pointers on good local pizza or any other good local food.

And I am not saying every place here sucks for food, but some are pretty bad and have been highly recommended by locals to me, though I also have to admit, I spend far more time west of St. Louis than I do in it.
