OT: The Great Pizza Debate

I believe the downtown place your thinking of is Maurizio's pizza. Not the best but there open till 4 I think and have a buffet till 3am.

we used to always plan our parties around little cesars customer appreciation days.

They were like 2.99 for cheese or pepperoni. So we always had more cash for the beer.

Hells Ya!! I love caseys pizza.. There breakfast pizza is awesome.

I am not really one for breakfast pizza, and I have not had a taco pizza in over 5 years, but ever since the first one I had I was hooked. It is definitely a pizza that most people need to try once. The first time I saw one I thought to myself, no way I am eating that, then a few minutes later I manned up and ate a piece. It has been one of my favorite pizzas ever since.

I'll have to look that up and see if it seems right, But I should have mentioned that it seemed more like a bar then a restaurant.

MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm BEER!!!

lets change this to the great beer debate!!!

Lets see what's in my fridge right now, Shock top, Schlafly (yellow and orange label) Sam Adams, and of course Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

Has anyone been to Peel Wood Fired Pizza in Edwardsville, IL yet? I'm going this Tuesday night, heard it was really good!

And I like too many beers to pick just one! Had several kinds at Growlers Pub in Sunset Hills last night, but the Moose Drool Brown Ale was my favorite of the evening! Gross name, great beer...

Casey's taco pizza is good. So is the bbq beef and the bacon cheeseburger pizza. I used to work at a Casey's when I was in high school. I tried them all.

If we are going to talk beer, my all time favorite.

Hofbrau Munchen Hefe Wiesen in a brown bottle. It has be at least 10 years since I have had it. My favorite beer of all time. I found it in Houston but it was in a green bottle and you beer experts know green bottles will ruin a wheat beer.

I ate there a few weeks ago. Its fancy pants pizza, not bad but not for a guy on a budget.

I like beer, all kinds of beer, but Moose Drool taste worse than its name :thumbdown

You guys are missing out if you go with the chicago style at the Black Thorn/ Lemons. That is not really their specialty. On a side note, free Black Thorn pizza at Lemons on monday nights is hard to beat.
My favorite STL style is from Fortel's in kirkwood. Man they make a great pie but not all Fortel's are created equal.
There are some places in here that I haven't been too. Man am I excited about new pizza.

On 4th of July weekend my family always gets together and does a large theme style dinner. This years theme is Pizza. What style pizza do you think I should do?

If you want taco pizza, nothing can touch Happy Joes!

Roma's in Bethalto is pretty good too. It also helps that I can walk there from my house, lol!

BTW, hand tossed is the worst choice of crust IMO.

This years theme is Pizza. What style pizza do you think I should do?

Hand tossed.:strooper:

1. Spicy: Sausage, bacon, and onion with a Wing sauce (no red sauce) and mozzarella cheese. Substitute chicken for sausage if you like.

2. White Pie: Mozzarella, random dabs of ricotta, and minced garlic liberally with some EVOO drizzled across the top. Add toppings to taste. Sausage, mushrooms, or onions are all popular toppings... but spinach is by far the best for this one.

I don't believe anyone's mentioned it yet, but a Roman would be really good too...

I'll play!

Pizza:

1) Giordanos - Chicagoland, IL (Chicago Style)
2) Mackies - Marion, IL (Deep Dish)
3) Quattros - Carbondale, IL (Deep Dish)
4) Unos - Chicago, IL (Deep Dish)
5) Monicals - Central Illinois (Thin Crust)

Beer:

1) Shiner Bock
2) Warsteiner Premium Dunkel
3) Fat Tire
4) Boulevard Wheat
5) many more..........

I like seeing more and more of the SRIDB guys making their way into SLASH!!

I've popped in and out of the St. Louis forums for some time. Wish it was just a bit closer, and I'd make some meetings now and again. It's about 1.5 hours to the St. Louis area for me.

I am heading up this weekend for some Maggiano's though. Love that place.

I will do most of my LFS shopping in and around St. Louis now though. Absolutely no options in Southern Illinois anymore.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck ordering online for most stuff.
