OT: What to do in Maui?

I can't comment on Maui, we went to the Big Island. I would suggest getting the book in the link below!! Best thing to have. It tells you everything you could ever want to know about everything on the island. The guys that wrote it did an outstanding job.

+1 on Talon's recommendation. My wife and I used it when we went in Sept.'09 and the book was great. Are you a diver? I dove Molokini and a couple spots off Lanai and it was great! We went to the Old Lahaina Luau and had a great time too.

We have a similar book and nope, not a diver, just snorkeling.

Trust me when I say there are no other tourist books that even come close to this one. You won't regret picking it up. Their restaurant reviews are spot on. Plus, they reveal a lot of hidden things that only locals know about. Although, these books have been out long enough that there probably aren't any secrets anymore. :lolspin:

One thing that we loved was our helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian. It was amazing getting that birds eye view. I believe they do tours on all the islands. We also did an amazing Kona coffee excursion (although that won't help with the island your going to).

Great call on the Luau. That's the one we went to also. Totally touristy. Big fruity colorful cocktails. UNBELIEVEABLE Polynesian girls! It really was a ton of fun. At one point I looked around....flame torches, palm trees, sun setting, drums pounding, wearing leis, hula dancers, giant blue cocktail, and I thought.....now this is Hawaii! In a touristy, classic brochure type sense.

I said to my buddy (we were all there for a wedding), "what are we drinking tonight Curtis?" he said, "interesting you should ask, I noticed there are 12 different cocktails you can choose from, so I'm starting with number 1 and working my way down".

To his children's horror he made it through 9. I tapped at 7 or 8. If you're in the mood, give it a shot and report back!

I will work on all of the above.

Good man!

Oh and don't forget to stop at tropix when you leave the airport. Grab some Maui Built brand clothing. No website. Only place you can buy their swag is in that store. I've got a couple Maui Built hats and T-shirts. Good stuff.

Will have to go there when going home, we arrive at 8PM on a Sunday, doubt they would still be open around 9PM.
