OT: What's the deal with the radio?

What in the world is going on with the radio? First O'Rock disappears, then they get rid of that sports talk on 95.3 for yet another spanish station, then they cut The Fiasco from the morning lineup on Real Rock, and now they're piping in Lex and Terry on Real Rock in the mornings? Are you serious? They are terrible to listen to, and we get them TWICE! In the morning now on 101.1 and in the evening on 104.1. And since they're playing that, they NOT DO play any music!! So there is offically no rock in the mornings here in Orlando, how embrassing it that? Supposedly ClearChannel is behind this all and I hope they go down like a ton of bricks. I'd just get an ipod or satelite radio, but since driving here in Orlando is a game of russian roulette everyday, I need the traffic updates.

yea this morning was not a pleasant drive, no music to listen to! I know there are more than enough people in orlando and surrounding cities that listen to rock. We now only have one station and they mess with the morning show on it. I was soo upset when 105.9 got switched, then they took away taco bob and them on 101.1 and i loved listening to them. glad someone else is peeved like me!

I agree totally. The radio could not get any worse! I listened to 101.1 this morning for about 10 seconds. Crash was doing fine in the mornings they should have left him there. You know it bad when someone that listens to rock switches the station over to listen Scott and Erica. Wow I don't know what to listen to anymore.

104.1 has not been playing them this week, its been dan stone djing instead (I think). I am hoping they will pick up loveline.

Agreed. They say it's all about the $$. Which I'm sure it is, but not totally sure. I mean rock is probably the only form of music where the radio station is not solely tied to making their profit from advertising on air. I mean with rock, the station(s) still have the concerts and local bands. Not like once in a blue moon for the pop stations where Hannah Montana comes down or B. Spears(formely, not so much now lol) or JT or whatever. There are tons of rock concerts all the time.

I actually listened to a bit of jazz on 103.1 today on the way to work.

Anyone else calling Buckethead's Stall Calls line today and letting everyone at ClearChannel hear it? I mean if for stall calls they're flooded with calls about Lex and Terry, the program director has to take notice.

Of all the places I've lived Orlando has the worst radio hands down! They also get passed up by most of the good concerts. The only stations I can take is 101.5 from Tampa and somtimes 89.9. How can a city this big be lacking an good alternative rock station?

the radio situation is horrible in orlando. there are way to many hip hop/ r&b stations and the rest is in a different language. unless your into soft rock. yeah who loves rod stewart? i cant get enough of him god help us

i will say that 104.1 is good for talk radio, and that there weekend selection of music is great compared to whats available. sunday morning coming down has some good music time to time.

I have heard the same thing, Launa got tired of Bob's comments, but from what else I've read and the way Clear Channel is 'doing what they want' and Crash and AlterBoy's on air comments the day of the firing, I don't think so. It's just Clear Channel ruining a good station for the bottom dollar.

BTW, has anyone actually listened to Lex/Terry? They seem to degrade women 10x worse Taco Bob ever would. At least he was light-hearted about it.

I agree that calling in for stall calls could help. The only bad thing is that they will not play anything that is bad about the morning show for their own radio station. Look at Jody and Scott from O-Rock they tried to get on 101.1 as the morning show and had all of their listeners e-mailing 101.1 to request them. Obviously that led no where. Its sad that a radio stations have no loyalty to the listener and are only care about the money. Anyone remember what happened on April 1st like 10 years ago....oh yeah...lost another rock station...93.1 The Crow. All in what I thought was an April fools joke by having country on a rock station.

the fiasco was awsome, probably the only talk show i actually ever enjoyed listening to. i would actually prefer to listen to that over music, ever since they took it off the air haven't found anything even close. oh well...i'm sure soon 101.1 will be oldies, spanish or r&b music..better start working on my cd collection!!

Yea, someone on another board mentioned pretty much the same has happen in his area (Denver) with clear channel taking over. I just don't understand. There's no way the numbers can support having 4 spanish stations and 3-4 hiphop/rb stations in one area like Orlando or Denver. I can understand down in say Miami where the population numbers are a tad different then the norm. There was to be some back-door secretive reason for clear channel to do this.:mad2:

Thats why I went with Satellite radio years ago. I cant take the crap they expect us to listen to around here. No commercials, and there are traffic channels also for those who need the updates.

I agree 101.1 is getting worse since the fiasco was gone. I just subscribed to Sirius in my truck and it is well worth the money. They have 4 different rock stations that are all awesome.

First your radios should not move from 96.5 .. 101.1 and ( 105.9 ) Were the same crap for years I felt like it was 1994 all over again EVERY time I tuned to that retarded station . Oh wow its Bush , Again .. Oh neat "Lips of an angel" They played the same cycle of 18 songs yet I suppose no one ever caught on to that . it was their rotation 18 on , 5 mixed , 5 mixed then back to the original 18.

And taco bob etc , Yes . mid 40 years olds talking about balls and pot jokes every other second. OH DOOD BRA ITS THE SUPER DOPPLER BUBBLER . The radio is crap the last good thing 104.1 had for talk was the hideout .

If you want the radio that was on JRR buy a 90's hit alternative cd . there you go.

Might have to buy that CD, then listen to what's on now. That freaken song on hiphop stations where he spells out Independent, wow. Or soilderboy every 15 mins. Worst part of UCF football games is how many times they played that moronic song.

Andy, didn't not know about the traffic updates. That's pretty cool. Will have to look into Satelite again.

I wish I had a platform to say this to all of orlando and UCF. Something that I have never understood.....FOR YEARS now. How is it that radio UCF 89.9 IS THE ONLY COLLEGE RADIO STATION I HAVE EVER HEARD OF THAT COLLEGE STUDENTS WILL NOT LISTEN TO. I mean come on, light jazz? A look to 91.5 is what college radio should be about.

Strange as it is, this 25 year old is happy to hear an oldies back on the radio in this town. There used to be some on 100.1 or something until a Spanish station took over. What style of music was that, mexican polka? Seriously, it always sounded like an overly cheery meriachi band and it was one less station.

O-Rock I'd listen to but now that its back to music I like more than the same 5 rock songs over and over, well, I am liking it.

I really like Mix 105.1's morning show and Johnny and Jayde in the morning on 106.7 (i think thats the one) Johnny and Jade's show do a lot of charity stuff. Most recently they collected a bunch of used dresses from donations to help lesser fortunate girls still go to prom. There's a lot of genres of music I like so as long as there is some variety out there it isnt too bad. Although, power 95.3 keeps calling itself "the NEW power 95.3" when they've been on for at least the last 7 years since I've been in orlando. that annoys me.

I spend 20-30 mins on my commute one way in the car, I try not to be too picky and worry more about the crazies driving around me

I like the new 105.9 to but everytime im in the car I catch myself switching stations the entire time and I don't have a morning show anymore
