OT: Who's brewing?? lets make an official thread

Beers of the World is doing pretty decent lately and has better liquid yeast prices.
northernbrewer.com, midwest supplies, williams brewing, and farmhouse brewing are a few of the places I've got stuff from in the past. UNYHA is a good club and has some nice perks if you're a member. Stop into the next meeting and we can start a reefers table.

homebrewtalk.com is an awesome forum and lists other places to order from.

This is one case where I prefer to shop online. I've purchased supplies from both Beers of the World locations. The prices are a little high, and don't count on getting decent advice from anyone. I've been to Sunset in Victor. Again, the prices are high, the stoners working the counter are useless when it comes to answering questions, and the two interactions I've had with the guy who runs the place have helped me decide to never set foot in there again.

In other words, IMO, there isn't a decent homebrew shop in the greater Rochester area that I know of. In fact, if this holds true for the next 15 years, I will be opening one after I retire! :)

I'm partial to http://www.brewmasterswarehouse.com/, and http://farmhousebrewingsupply.com/Scripts/default.asp. If you're looking to buy bulk grains, check out: http://www.fiftypoundsack.com/.

If you're not a member yet, I would highly recommend joining http://www.homebrewtalk.com/. Lots of helpful folks and great recipes and DIY ideas over there.

Yeah I noticed that beers of the world is more expensive than sunset. I usually go to sunset just because its convenient, but you're right, if I go in there, I try to have all of my questions answered from online forums first. Get in and get out. I was thinking about joining the UNYHA, merchants grill is right around the corner, I don't know why i haven't yet. I got joined up with the AHA forum site, but everytime I google a question it comes up on homebrewtalk and I actually just added that as an app yesterday so that is pretty sweet. Thanks for the advice

Definitely check out UNYHA. I haven't been able to get my schedule to work so that I can attend, but it's definitely a great resource.

Not so much a brewer as a fermenter myself. I've made quite a few ciders over the last few years. My big hit is my blackberry wine, unfortunatly I didn't get enought berries this year to make a batch. Hopefully this summer will be better for my berry patches. Currently in the secondary I have an experiment we call blapple berry, its a blackberry/apple blend that should be about 8% abv and will be primmed and put in beer bottles.

I make my own white wine. All it takes it a lot of sugar, yeast and water. After about a week I have decent tasting wine and its dirt cheap! Although I will probably try grape juice or wine yeast instead of bakers yeast to get a better taste.

I want to brew my own beer but it seems very complicated.
