Also theres a tiny tiny red-painted shack on Curlew right at Alt 19 in Dunedin thats only open Friday-Sundays..excellent goodies there!

Maybe at the next Tampa Reef club meeting everybody bring their Webbers and we will have a grill off!!! Now that would be a meeting with record attendance!!!

One time I was in !st choice Barbque in brandon and we asked the owner why he never advertised. He said he never had to because when people saw a commerical for barbque they would just come to him anyway lol. They also give 50% off if you work for police or fire. I can honestly say I've never had less than an awesome meal there. From the barbque to the beans,It's all good. Worst place I ever ate was at Jazzy's off of waters ave. It tasted like cardboard. Someone bought me the sandwich so it was free but I still wanted my money back....

ok, i need to put my 2 cents worth in on this. First, there are some BBQ places here in Florida that are not worth eating at. You just have to get out and vist many places to find a BBQ joint that suits your taste. Florida contains some of the best BBQ you can find in the in the US ( from all types, Texas, Kannas City, SC and so on).

Now i was born and raised in Florida and have been eating BBQ before i could walk. Now i agree some of the best is found on the side of the road from a guy in a truck. Hell my local Sam's Club has a guy in front of the store that has great ribs. All of the above places named have some great BBQ.

If you wish to try some real good BBQ PM me and i can tell you what you need to have to cook some very good Florida style BBQ or you can take a ride to Joe's up in Chiefland, located in Downtown, i don't remember the street name but it is a very tiny town maybe 8 building in Downtown, you can't miss it (trust me, just follow the map from like MSN.com). they BBQ Flordia old school, try the pulled Pork it is slow smoked use orange tree wood, some of the best. Any time i smoke pork i use orange tree wood, once you try it that way you will never go back.

I like the idea of having a meeting with a BBQ cook off, sign me up.

josh,
so funny you have been to chiefland, I actually played their local golf club while camping at a place close by on the Swanee River. I caught my 1st keeper Red there at the mouth of the Gulf and Swanee, 26.75", just on slot. BTW, give some insight on how you make your homeade rubs and sauces.

Georgia Boys and Boos. Both are in Oldsmar near my shop. Georgia Boys is kind of scary but the food is excellent. Pay no attention to the shambling mounds of debris. Boos has blue-cheese coleslaw and white mac-n-cheese sides that are awesome. Their ribs are good, not to fatty or wet.

We tried Boos this weekend. Not bad! The coleslaw is really good. Cindy got the spare ribs and I got the brisket and pulled pork. Definatley better than Sonny's thats for sure! I think next weekend were gonna try Georgia Boys. :)

Btw, whoever told you to go to Sonny's for good BBQ should go back to wherever they came from! That has to be the crappiest place to get food from next to Long John Silvers!

So what ever happened to Arthur Treatures? Or was that a northern thing? Fish and chips place? Hmmm I can see another thread coming.... "Why does Florida Fish and Chips suck soo bad?"

Oh and the guy that told me to go to Sonny's I'm pretty much convinced was raised by wolves..
