OT - Why I didn't finish my sump tonight...

Not Likely 2 Ever Grow Up
So, I'm in the kitchen around 7PM, scoring the Lexan, when I start smelling something... at first I think the Lexan is where the smell is coming from, but that wasn't it - so I'm walking around sniffing, and it's really getting strong. I'd put the dog out earlier, so I went to call her in, and when I opened the door, I got a good whiff - SKUNK!

The dog had run in the house when I opened the door - to say she was one huge stink bomb is putting it mildly! So I'm chasing her around the house to catch her and put her back outside - which she was really enjoying by the way - and I finally get her back outside, and suddenly realise our cat Sassy is outside. So I put my shoes on, and go out and call her. I was worried that she might have gotten sprayed as well, but if she hadn't I wanted to get her in quickly before she did.

Anyway, I go outside and call her - and she comes running up to me, gets one whiff of the dog, and takes off. So now I'm playing tag with the cat... I finally get her and pick her up - give her a quick sniff or two. Thankfully, she has not been sprayed (anybody who has cats knows you'd probably rather have a tooth pulled, than give a cat a bath!). So, I head for the back door with the cat in my arms.

I get right up to the door and the dog is like running around and jumping up on me - the stench was taking my breath away. So i try to sidestep the dog, and WHOOSH, my feet are now where my head was a moment ago... I am going down, the cat lets out a blood curdling scream, the dog starts barking - and I am now face down in the mud beside the deck... with the cat under me - claws dug into my rib cage. I roll gingerly on to my side, the cat hisses at me and runs off. Well, at least SHE is OK!

So I take a moment to asess my situation - I can move my fingers and toes, so thats good... I'm bleeding, so thats not so good - and there is a large lump on my arm right above my wrist the size of a half grapefruit, also not good. To add insult to injury, I'm in my PJs, covered in mud, have twigs stuck in my hair, and I smell like a skunk... and my husband won't be home from work for another hour or so. Yeah me.

It's now 2:00AM - we got back from the ER about a 1/2 hour ago. Arm isn't broken - just one heck of a bruise and lots of swelling. Got some great pain meds - have a funny feeling I'm really going to need them tomorrow. Dog is sleeping outside tonight, the cat hasn't yet forgiven me (well, who could blame her), and the boot scraper that is nailed to the deck that my arm whacked will have to be replaced, because I broke it. :hmm2:

Thats why the sump didn't get finished tonight. :lol2:

Dang Girl, You gonna give your husband a heart attack not to mention you could really get hurt falling with a cat in tow. At least you didn't break your arm not that it's any consolation for what you went through, Hope you feel better today and the dog smells a little less pungent.
Bill

OMG I was laughing to tears on this one.
Sorry about getting hurt and your cat dissing you (which mine does cause he wants to whenever he feels like it anyway)
but just as a reader it is a really funny story.

Thanks everybody. That pain stuff they gave me at the hosital really knocked me out. I woke up 30 minutes ago, looked at the clock and it was nearly 2:00PM! :eek1:

Honestry, I'm fine - just feel like I've been tumbled in one of those huge dryers you see at a laundramat. :lmao: Good thing I have a little extra "padding" (OK - I have a lot of extra padding), or I probably would have been hurt worse.

The cat still isn't speaking to me. Husband is giving the dog a bath right now. I'm thinking its gonna take more than one bath! Wooo Eeeeee she stinks!

so this can all be traced back to me as my fault somehow lol...seriously though im really glad you wasnt hurt worse....friends dont let friends reef sump alone lol...

Yeah - the whole ordeal was the Lexans fault - so, since you traded me the Lexan, you're responsible Mario. LOL

Glad you got a good laugh, dzones - I was laughing too by the time we left the hospital... whatever they gave me was awsome!

BTW, the new MTMC is a lovely hospital! :)
