OT: WNY spring turkey season

Oh you dirty son of a...... I knew someone was gonna bring it up.
I'm grounded this year. Wife is due with our second AND FINAL kid anyday. Didn't bother scouting cause I know I won't get out. I'm concentrating on lobbying for treestand time this fall. Its come down to bargaining. Its pathetic.

Good luck with the dirty birds this spring fellers!

Aw man! Understandable though of course. Well continue lobbying so you can get a few a.m's and p.m's in the fall ;)

I hear that! I'm concerned that I've seen Tom's strutting around extra early this year...hopefully they're still "interested."

birds are acting funny, i had a big blonde coyote trot past while sighting in a friends new rifle. 4 guys were shooting in an open field. it came running up like it was a pet and stopped at 50 yds. i' m going to try a spot or two sunday. woodcock numbers have been really high this year. willing to trade coral for hunts

Coral for hunts??? Hmmmm. Our fam property is only 20 acres but it always holds turkey. I'll ponder that offer lol.

Our 4 yr old daughter TOLD me she was going with me Sunday lol. I told her it was going to be pitch black and probably buggy. She said "That's ok, we have flashlights and camomage!" lol...gotta love it!

Wife's getting induced on Friday, my hunt'n partner will be here soon. I'd be super psyched if my daughter got into it too! Justin, I don't see how you can turn down a decree like that.

Wow Mark! Exciiiiting!!!!

Yea we'll see...I'm thinking I'll hunt 'til 9 or so and then maybe come back in for her and then back into woods.

'Nuff said on that lol

Well my first hunt of the spring turkey season lasted about ten minutes.

I left it up to my buddy to get us turkey loads yesterday. This morning at 4 30am we drove about 40 minutes to our hunting spot. We went our separate ways. I walked back to my spot, got all set up, sat down, went to chamber a round... didn't fit.

He bought 10 gauge shells. 3.5" at that, which both of our 12g shotguns are only sleeved for 3".

I blame myself. Should have taken care of my own gear. Oh well, we got all month.

Good luck guys.

Chris that's insane man!!! Huge bummer!!!

Heard some distant gobbles but saw nothing but deer and squirrels. Still a beautiful morning though!

i went saturday looking for woodcock(without a gun). both dogs lock up on point in some of thickest brush you can imagine. i walk in ,and two big gobblers snuck out the back door. maybe 10 feet from me. didn't make it out today. don't feel bad chris , i did the same thing on a guided hunt. the outfitter saved the day with old target load that he had rolling around in his pick um up truck. shot my best turkey with a single 7.5 shell.
