OT:Your other hobbies?

I used to backpack, fly, build & mod computers, and bicycle.
Now I have a family and trying a side business so the reef is the only thing that realy gets attention and even half as much as it used to. So my 2 year old daughter takes up a lot!!!!

Love digital photography, and am looking over the abyss that is underwater photography. Combining 2 of my life's' greatest passions into one super-massive blackhole of $$$ and time. :)

In the military I used to repel out of helicopters and blow stuff up - really cool. I thought of it as a hobby when I was transferred to the Guard and did it on the weekends, but I do not do much of that anymore, well at least 'intentionally' blowing stuff up that is. ;)

I also waste time playing video games on the PC late at night.

Yes, my name is MrMikeB and I too am a nerd.

strange how family and kids take priority over "hobbies" and once favorite pastimes :D.

jimdogg, the highest rating i got was a meager 1201. played with the local club a few times and did a few tourneys. don't even know what ranking system is used nowadays. i believe the rules, format and equipment specs have changed since i last played.

I do RC airplanes, 9as of last count-- I have crashed 4 of them so far.
In this hobby it is not if you crash a plane it is when did you last crash a plane

Take offs are optional landings are mandentory LOL

Wow Ed, those plants are great.

I am also into plants, but sadly I live in a townhouse and have no real yard. I also unfortunatly do not get the best light at my place. So I am limited in variety right now. But I am really prowd of my 3 ft tall and 2 ft wide jade plant that I raised from a little broken piece. And it even made it through my move!

Other than plants and fish my hobbies include the outdoors. Camping, hiking, rafting, anything.

Oh and I crochet.

Thanks.

I grow most of my Nepenthes in a terrarium w/2 24"NO grow lights. It's like a 30gal bow front that leaked so I use it for Nepenthes.I don't keep many Sarracenia anymore my wife did'nt like the whole backyard filled w/ plants so I kept the rare and endangered ones and donated to rest to the UCD botanical consevitory.

Nepenthes are very easy to grow and very low maintenance if you want more info or want to see them in person LMK.
I'll be makeing cutting soon so if you want I can set one or two aside for you.

My family, hunting, hiking, camping, travel, diesel, home improvement, pets, and on and on...

Scares me a little that Ed has so many carnivorous plants. If he asks you over "for dinner" I'd ask a few clarifying questions. :P

Quick question for everyone-- How many times do you check RC a day. Ed, I am not trying to highjack anything, but surfing RC is a hobby for me.

1. Backpacking
2. Snowboarding
3. Paintball
4. Discgolf
5. Longboarding

Now selling off all my paintball stuff to get together to $$ for reefing. Might have to break down and sell my longboarding stuff too, for more reefing stuff.

I toyed with the idea of getting into kiteboarding, but decided I best not without good health and life insurance. I have since moved away from the ocean and so its no longer an option.

Another hobby of mine is browsing garage sales and craigslist for rare finds/quick resells.

I also just picked up a $1600 road bike at a garage sale for $100, so planning on doing some cycling and burning off my beer gut. I've been wanting to get into bike commuting to work for over a year now (my contribution to global warming), so I hope getting this bike will throttle me into that.

My goal is to get a terrarium set up eventually but for now it will just have to wait as I am busy rebuilding my reef.

you will have to tell me more about the Nepenthes.

I am reviving some old hobbies and adding new ones. Now that my kids don't need me as much, it's time to play more.

Ikebana- Japanese flower arranging
Ceramics
Aikido
Fiber Arts
Sewing
Gardening
Pond

Who knows what will be next?

Good point mark but I think that surfing RC get lumped into Reefing.

I check RC 100-1500 time a day j/k

2-4 an hour while @ work

1-2 an hour while @ home
