Other alternatives to Zeovit reactor?

I'm looking into starting Zeovit. What you do folks use for a reactor besides the CaptiveOcean Zeovit reactor? I have a modest 75 gallon tank so a small reactor would work. Canister filter? Phosban reactor? Mesh bag with zeolith?

Look into the diy reactors over at zeovit.@%^ . Use can use pvc pipe or acrylic tubing. Much cheaper alternetive. I had a diy and then bought the I Aquatic I spin which is a great reactor too.

I think that I'm going with a Kent reactor and shaking it everyday. Experienced Zeo users can chime in if that is a problem. Thanks for everyones help.

Not sure what the Kent does, do ya have to pick the whole thing up? Are you going to be able to shove enough water through it?

With the nylon bag you can put in a low flow area and all you have to do is pick up the bag and shake it. Its a pretty common way to run Zeo.

FWIW, You might check the Zeo site...there were a few guys making reactors for 100.00.. my buddy was making them for a while.

The bag would work better than the kent reactor. You need ample space to suspend the rocks inside the reactor while stirring them. The bag can shaken in the sump very easily if you buy a large media bag. The I-aquatic reactor is nice, I got mine from oceanencounters.com....very easy to stir the rocks. I got started with zeo using the bag method.

I purchased a reactor from Madison. The build is great, and it didn't break the bank. I tried the mesh bag for awhile, but things really perked up once I put the zeovit in a reactor.

There's a DIY reactor thread on another forum that starts with Z...

Once you get a dosing schedule, they will prolly recommend the "3 hours on, 3 hours off" cycle. Im not sure if its necessary but, kinda hard to do if you place it in a mesh bag. Here the one I built. I had some extra acrylic tubing left over when I built my calcium reactor but regular pvc will work good as well.
