That's a MONSTER !! Great job on the move and the repair......

Now that the tank is in place, ed can start working on the light rail and plumbing while the overflow cure :)

Yes you are right!
I am so excited:boldface: I can finally get our home back in order!
Ed and I will hopefully finish the light rail tonight! Ed is going to the store this afternoon for the plumbing stuff!

I will do a water test today

Very nice. Glad everything seemed to smoothly. Wish I could rent those suction cups here.

Is that a Yellow Tang in the next to last picture....checking out the new digs?

Dave

Thanks Dave,
We went to Lowe's to rent the suction cups. I honestly don't think we could have lifted the tank without them.
Have you tried any of the glass shop's in your area?

In the lower corner is an orange plate checking out the new dig!

Wow!

Very nice!

... and a very big tank!

I guess having a fish wing on the house with double doors is a bit of an asset when placing such a large tank! :D

Bax,
We are very excited about the fish "wing".
It will make the maintenance on a tank this size it a little more manageable for me!

Yes, the double doors were a HUGH asset for moving the tank in.
Having an access to the room from outside the home is gong to be great, all the trips to the LFS or deliveries, we will no longer have to drag through the house, worrying about getting the floors wet, etc.etc.

When the water tanks are in place, only one door will be used!

Sandy

On the suction cups...

I tried both glass shops we have in town.....but they won't let the ones they have out to people. Some Home Depots have tool rentals; ours doesn't, but I called a large store in Albany with the rental, but they don't have the cups. I'd have to drive 40 miles to get there anyway, and my move is going to be in two stages. Right now I need to get our tank inside the house before the weather gets really cold.

I ordered some.....I'll let you know how we make out. in the meantime, I'll tag along here to keep syched on the build.

When will you be able to water test your tank?

Have fun and take more pics

Dave

Impressive, Sandy and Ed!

Nice tank - and the repair went very well from the looks of it. I'll bet you're all smiles now. ;) :D Looked like a very well choreographed move. Who was responsible Sandy, you or Ed? Well, now it's time to sit back and enjoy - at least for a little while ....

Thanks Tom!
I have to say it was Ed who is responsible for gathering up his fishing buddies, I asked my son involved!

I'm looking forward to sitting back and enjoy the tank when it is full of water & coral!

A lot of progress has been made on the room.
The plumber, electrician and the a/c crew have finished their jobs in the room.
:dance::dance::dance:

The floor has it's 1st coat of primer and stain.

The room is really looking like a "room" now.

On the water test.
the repair patch had a small leak :(
so we drained the tank and Ed really silicone the heck out of the patch. so today we will do another test... I have my fingers crossed.

On plumbing the system we have changed our minds over and over again. We decided since we have 2 sumps, lets have 2 pumps..... redundancy is a better plan, if one pump needs servicing we will have a back up!
finally with the help from a couple of our local reef club members (thanks guys!) we came up with a better plan.
So back to the store today and buying the plumbing stuff we need.

We will post some pics of the progress.

Sandy, I think you might want to let the repair section cure for a week to 10 days min before doing wet test

The reason I tested the tank so soon was the directions state the silicone cure in 24 hours.

We are going to remove the patch, if we can and start all over. We will wait for a week and if this dosent't work, I guess I will have to call GlassCages and see what they can do for us.

If they replace the tank it will be another month befor we can go forward.

Should work Sandy but just might need a longer time to cure. Since you're going to redo, you will need to removed all the old silicone before putting on the new seal.

You can still work on the plumbings, lighting rails, etc and before you know it it can be wet test :)

You are right Ed, I'm really not trying to rush the system.

however....our local reef club meeting is in our home this weekend:eek1:

I was hoping to have our home a little more organized.

I guess most of the members will be checking out that new fish room anyway :D

Did Glasscages tell you to put silicone all over the piece like was shown earlier? Chances are it would take forever for the inner rings to cure. The outer ring would cure and seal the glass and then there would be no air exchange for the curing process to take place on the inner rings.

Sandy

So sorry for your set backs.

It seemed the crack was on an interior wall of the overflow. Does the tank actually leak, or is it the overflow that leaks to the tank?

Bax,
It's the tank leaking into the overflow...
My biggest worry is IF the electric goes out.. the crack is on the bottom side of panel, it leaks into the overflow box, and then you know what happens next....................................

I am not sure I understand this correctly. If it your leak is at the bottom of the overflow and it leaks from the tank into the overflow blow, the water will only continue to drain out until the over flow pipe gets air. So your over flow will be full to the highest part of your returns pipes. If you loose power your display and the over flow box will drain a couple inchs. So however high your over flow pipes are is the height you will lose water too when you lose your power.

Eric,
We had our local reef club meeting at our home today, and that is exactly what I learned!

I truly thought it would drain the tank, I guess I wasn't thinking:o

Thanks for your information. :D

We spoke to Beth at GlassCages yesterday and ordered another piece of glass that will cover the entire side of the inside area of the overflow box, we also asked them to remake the overflow box, due the extra silicone on the outside of the overflow box the existing box will not fit!

(I hope I explained that right)

Where's Ed???? he needs to explain this!

We also asked if she could widen the teeth on the new box, and she said NO, it's basically one size teeth fits all

When the new overflow box cover arrives we will have to have the teeth widen before we install it.

So, not sure when they will ship the pieces, and we want to wait a few days after the repair job AGAIN, to fill with water
