Hi Sandy,
Sorry I haven't posted in so long and sorry to hear about the problems you had with your tank a while ago. It sure looks great now! You are way beyond me as far as DT progress is concerned - it's almost all grown out.
Congratulations.
BTW: I was VERY impressed with your water change reportage. Excellent!

GREAT NEWS!
I have a reef club member who is a professional photographer, he will be coming over this Sunday to help me set the WB on my camera and give me some tips for that perfect shoot.
I will post some of my learning experience :lol:
We just completed a water change yesterday, I scrapped off as much of the coraline algae from the around the bottom of the tank as well. I seem to be having diatom blossom now for some reason
I have been battling with the diatom off and on for awhile now.

Well maybe I can get some tips on photo shop too!
I have a reef club member who is a professional photographer, he will be coming over this Sunday to help me set the WB on my camera and give me some tips for that perfect shoot.

Even though I had fully cured LR in my system prior to putting my display online I seem to be getting some mini cycles (also probably caused by overfeeding). I have hair algae (that those beasts of Turbo snails are slowly getting under control) and now brown diatoms on the rocks and a little red cyano patch on the sand. I guess it's part of the progress we are making.

Hey Alan,
I went through the GHA too, we had a sea hare in the DT he seem to be a great job, we named him Waldo, because we could never find him...
He was a loaner from a reef club member, he did his job and now he in living in someone else's reef! luck guy, right!
Yes, your right on the mini cycles, our tanks are still young!
I think I will turn the sand just a little in the morning so the brown is not so noticeable :lol:

Hi all, just a little update on the tank.....
We are still battling the GHA, UGH!!!!
We almost had it under control, we borrowed a sea hare from a club member, he ate a lot of it, then it has slowly but surly come back
I have been reading in different forums here, that the Mexican turbo snails like the GHA, so I thought well, lets give that a try.
So I purchased four and can see a path where they have eaten the GHA, its like magic! they must have been hungry!
While I was there, I picked up 2 two ORA Orchid Dottybacks, they are so cute! one even came home in a snail shell, I thought well it will be days before they find each other in the big tank, WRONG, in just a few hours, they were hanging out together!
the other tank mates are fine with their new friends.
I'll try and take a few pictures soon......

Just when I thought the GHA was gone, before I knew it, I could see it here & there in the tank............that pest is so difficult to get rid of. I really don't want it to get out of control.
So far you can clearly see where they have eaten a path through the GHA, I hope they keep going! I think I will go back to the LFS and get two more, one for each refugium......I have a plan of attack, hope it works :lol:
My mag lever is 1500, not so sure if I want to raise it any higher.
I am afraid it might hurt the tank.... what are you thoughts????

Try Phosphate Control. Even if you're reading 0 phosphates you still might have some that is being consumed by the GHA before it becomes measurable in the tank. Can be no harm in adding 5ml here and there just to see. But I'm sure GHA can still grow in 0 phosphates. What is your nitrate level?

Ed, for now I will see how the snails do, I really don't like trying several things at one time because, you really don't know what worked.
