Here are some pictures of most of our collection of Aussie Acans and a few Indo Acans. That we are now keeping in our Acan tank in our greenhouse. I have a larger tank them in the planning stages right now.

Thanks, my wife and I are very proud of our collection and we are always looking for the more exotic colors to add to it.

Beautiful examples ya got there Louis....bravo!

What sort of lights are you using in the tank ?? I'm using a TEK with six T5 bulbs, I just changed a couple to ATI Blue plus and man those bulbs really bring out the green and yellows/orange.

Keep 'em coming..... :-)

Thanks for the comments. Those pictures were actually taken in a small holding tank I built because it was too hard to photograph the corals in the vat. I used a 2 bulb fixture above a 6" deep tank the bulb combination was Giesemann PowerChrome Aquablue+ and Actinic+. Now in the vat they are under shaded natural sunlight with T5 actinic to supplement.

Very nice collections. Your acan colors are very vibrant. What kind of lighting do you keep in your display tank? I found that they are hard to place in sps mix tank. It seems that their color got bleached when they got too much light. Is it true?
How do they grow(spread)? If the polyp face to the other rock surface, will they die or they will spread onto that rock? I got a few small colonies on a small piece of rock. Would it best to stick to another piece of rock or just let it sit on the big shelve rock? Thanks.

Thanks, wnaing. The lighting that I am using on the Acans is natural sunlight with actinic supplementation; the tanks are in our greenhouse. I also have found that too much light would cause our lps corals to bleach out. We put a shade cloth on the greenhouse and went with T5 actinic to help with the spectrum of lighting and we are very pleased with the coral coloration we are getting. As for getting the Acans to grow onto another rock as you described, it will probably kill the polyp if you put the rock against the face or mouth of it. (Just my opinion) it would or should grow onto another rock if it is placed next to the outside edge of the frag or colony. Maybe someone can chime in on this matter we are all learning together from each other’s experiences.

My wallet, my wallet, my poor wallet! <sob> Sniff.
You ARE evil. Now I have to go back to that SW store about an hour away & spend my vacation money! Oh well... Once an addict always an addict.

Yes that Aussie reef crack is hard to kick once you are hooked. But one way to look at it is, the more you have the more you can trade for ones you don't have already.

If they do the same as our other Aussie Acans the color will improve. I will just have to find the sweet spot where they will be happy.
