Our Mini 425 Ocean

Kenny â€"œ Yeah if I have a daughter defiantly a gun collection. AHHAHAHHHA

John â€"œ He sure does have some webbos for 10.

DreamerTheresa â€"œ Thanks..Yeah fear bitting dogs are worse, I think. Thet are less predictable. I would still rather get snapped at by one of them then attacked by a pit..

Hk855 â€"œ Thanks..It was a little more work then cutting a hole into an existing wall b ut well worth it. When I have the chance to work form home it is cool to look over at the tank and relax for a bit. It amazes me the amount of time and money that a lot of people put into there tanks here, Definitely a passion and obsession..

Some updates on the tank. I haven’t purchased a skimmer yet. I have been waiting to see if I can find a super deal used. I think I will get one this weekend. I went to tractor supply and they were out of the 150 rubbermaid containers. I decided to check craigslist and found a used one for $65. The lady said it was used for turtles. It is pretty big. Here are some pics…

Here is the new plan for the sump and fuge in the garage. Not to sure about electric yet. I think that will really come into play when I can get a controller.

Sweeet, Eric. 19s or 20s? What exhuast are you running? Clean drop. I love that gen GS. I'm a car lover. I appreciate all nice rides. have nothing against Bimmers. But when someone starts ripping on me, then game's on ;) Any plans for the new one in the driveway? :)

superb deal on the Rubbermaid!

Don't skimp on the skimmer. As far as your system design, one thing I would study more is feeding the overflow water through the fuge first. Seems like a good idea but practically speaking, it could be a major headache:

Unless you mechanically filter 100% of the water going into the fuge, you will get a large amount of detritus attaching to macro and settling to the bottom. With good access you could just consider it a weekly chore to vacuum the fuge, but I might reverse it and have the sump receive the water first. Food for thought anyway.

Tbone-- I hear you.. All I did to the car was 20's with a svt computer and filter. The svt eliminated the electronic 147 speed limiter. It was funny how it worked out. I was talking to my neighbor about supras ripping up bike Busa's on the highway in Miami.. He did not believe me. One night we were coming home a group of friends and his new zx1000 and my GS. After we went around traffic he could not pass me. One of my friends in the car said ok ok. He was able to pass. When we got home he said he topped out his bike at 157 digital speedometers and he could pass me. I don’t drive like that much anymore, I was a little wreck less in my earlier days. Things shure change in a few years.. ...hhahahahhha..

John - (SINSAE) I noticed there was a lot of detritis in my 75 fuge on my current set up and not enough flow for the algae. I plan on using socks and filter floss. I did want to havbe my skimmer fed from the overflows. I just wasnt sure how to do it. Today i was thinking if I had an external skimmer first the to the fuge then to the sump. I am just afraid if I have my return pump feeding form the fuge I might pick up some sand.

If I have the sump first with the equipment in there it does make sense. I guess i will just siphon the sump out and it will be easier then stirring up sand. I could make a baffle so no sand can go to the pump. Or just put my skimmer in my fuge first and then have a sump 2nd. Any thoughts??

Now you got me thinking.

Great tank, great thread, great dog! (Is he an Am. Staff? He's bigger than most APBTs that I know).

Good for you for posting pitty stats. I groom dogs, and I've never had a problem with a pit-type, a Rott, a German Shepherd, an Akita (which is what I have), or a Doberman.

I've been bitten NUMEROUS times by shih tzus, jack russells, golden retrievers, and ESPECIALLY labradors.

Goes to show ya.

Another smart APBT lover on this site. ROCK ON!!

erics3000 - Sweat deal on that rubbermade!!!

NICE RIDES! I really want a BMW though. M3 decked out. Something about them just lights my fire

Love your doggie too :D

It's easy to feed the skimmer from teh overflow if you want to. We can post some diagrams on how to do it. Not that it matters but I'm gonna feed my Deltec 701 w/ one of my overflows.

Like jnarowe said don't skimp on the skimmer but I bet a Reeflo would be AWESOME on your tank. Get teh 250 if you want some more punch

I would put the return pump between the sump and the fuge via a manifold. Then you can control exactly what flow the fuge gets and maintaining the sump and fuge will be easier IMO.

That's what I do and I have slow throughput in my fuge of about 500 - 600 gph and I have a powerhead in there to create a gyre. (oval shaped sump). The line to the fuge is above water so it also acts as my siphon break on the return lines.

My other money pit MKIII ...fresh motor ..needs some tlc...Thats why the tank has been slow...Anyone wana buy a GS..ahhahah

Thiago - Craigslist ..you never know..My 150 glass taqnk I am using for my fuge I got it off craigslist for $140.

Every time I am around a LFS I always see if I can get some cheap cool looking base rock.

Very nice!

I think I want to upgrade my dart for a barracuda. This way I can have a manifold in the garage and use the dart for added flow on the display. I am trying to figure the best way to run the dart in my display as a closed loop with out drilling my tank. I was thinking of adding a couple returns on the top and have the pump feed from the overflow.

This is giving me some concerns though.

I am just afraid if it looses suction or will it even suck water from the overflow.. say about 30 below pump placement. I could add a thread on the top to fill it with water to prime first.

Then my next concern is what would happen if I loose power and the pump is the only one working could it starve and get air and then burn up.

Is it worth it to drain my tank half way and try and drill it? hahahah maybe not...

Option 2
I could just use the dart for the manifold to feed equipment and run one line to the display to get a little extra flow. I have 2 1 1/2 and 2 1 returns, that should handle a little extra flow

Option 2 sounds a lot safer in every way but I think I could get more flow to the tank with option a. I might go with option 2 down the road

Any body got any ideas?
