Cell proliferation dynamics and morphological differentiation during regeneration in Dorvillea bermudensis (Polychaeta, Dorvilleidae).

Paulus T1, Müller MC.

"The anterior blastema transforms into the head, while the posterior forms the pygidium and persists as a proliferation zone; four or numerous segments are formed by intercalation between the former anterior or posterior blastema and the amputee. "

That thing was huge. Was fat and happy until I mess it up. I kept checking back on it every 1 hour or so but the slide finally dried out the last time I check on it. From the paper I linked to last night said it would take 16 hours or so for the regeneration process but it was fascinating to watch the start of it.

Video 3 of the play list has the finally split off of the back end .

My ATS is my favorite place to pull samples from. Easy to get to and always something to find.

Found a ostracod full of eggs for the first time and one of them was nearly fully developed another getting there. Very cool. Also, followed around a little peramecium in there stirring up a bunch of coccus bacteria.

little diatom action first.

I'm pretty sure I ruined their day (besides the fact I sucked them off the ATS with a pipette) when I went to 60x and 100x spring objectives. I noticed after that the ostracod shell was broken and the most mature upper left one was pushed back down in pretty solid.

The ostracods are interesting. To me, it looks like the eggs are about ready to hatch, and the animal inside is moving, but I am not very experienced with interpreting videos.

One was most definitely matured enough to go out on it's own very very soon.
