Awesome shots! Thanks for taking the time to post them.
I was planning on getting a scope sometime in the near future. I had decided on a low power boom-style, mostly to examine incoming corals for nasties. That was before I came across this thread..
Would it be possible for you to post the magnification on some of the pics you'll be adding in the future? Or, if the magnification of the pics through the camera aren't the same as if when observing, what you estimate the magnification to be? I'm curious to know just how much power is needed to get the detail in some of your shots.

I did the first time mention the approximate magnification. I'll see what I can do the next time.

Many of the shots are with the 40x and 100x lenses. With the camera looking like around 10x on top of that or a little better. It's a little closer then using the 10x eye peices but not near as close as using the 25x eye peices.

Above is the calibration slide with the different lens x values.

Thanks so much.
Maybe I can convince the Powers That Be that I really need two scopes. I don't know if I'll be able to get the wife to go along with that or not.
This thread should be a Publc Service Reminder for everyone to remember to wash their hands after messing in their tanks....

Beautiful Jason!

(Comment at the first page photos...not the photo of bottles it posted after LOL )

Though am curious about the bottles, as they all seem like BS to me.

I have to say I'm not a fan of needing to use bacteria in a bottle or have ever used it before. But I was impressed with two out of the three here.

Dr. Tim's Eco-Balance looking pretty clear and clean

Dr.Tim's One and Only looking pretty dirty

Bio-Spira looking cloudy as well

Will work on uploading pics and vids later.

Dr. Tim's Eco-Balance

I was not expecting much. I found a lot. I don't know about the bottles claims but found lots of coccus shaped bacteria. Everywhere in the two small drops I placed on the slide. I only took one picture as it was all the same. And all very much alive.

Dr. Tim's One and Only

After seeing the Eco-Balance I was excited to look at the One and Only

First thing I noticed was how cloudy the sample was. Made me even more excited.

Then I looked into the microscope and saw what looked like a ton of detritus and was ecstatic to start zooming in looking for life.

I found some interesting things as I zoomed in

But everywhere I looked I found nothing that looked alive

I spent well over 2 hours looking for anything moving staying on certain areas for quite a long time just waiting. No videos as nothing was found to get video of.

Bio-Spira

Just like the Eco-Balance the sample pulled from the bottle was just as cloudy.

And looking into the scope found what looks like detritus and was disappointed not expecting much of anything again.

BUT then I zoomed in even more and quickly found LIFE.

In the video you see this little guy bobbing around on little flagelets

And found lots of bacteria and different kinds. Easier to see at 2500x but not as much in picture or video. Found various cocci and rods.

Back at looking at some cyano and some dinos as a bonus. Plus some cool visits with some pods.

After exploring that for a few hours I soaked up some of the excess water and dropped on it some H2O2. Awesome!

Will get pics and vids uploaded later. I'm still exploring.
