Overflow Flow Rate? 170g ^_^

What should the flow rate for a 170g tank? WlLL thls 1600 GPH enough for a flow system?

Also, how big of a hole should i drill for the Overflow System?

if it were me i would use 2 x 1.5" or 2 x 2" for your drains. More drain = safe from flood. actual flow rate through your sump will depend on size of sump.

as for flow in your tank - i use a dart for my return pump on my 150g, and another as a closed loop. the return flow is split in a diy manifold to feed a separate fuge (120g) and the DT and throttled back somewhat to regulate sump flow. the dart on the CL is wide open - i don't think there is a dead spot anywhere in the tank, and not a single power head anywhere.

As high as you can w/o blowing the sand and critters out of the tank......
