Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

Looking for LED clamp on lighting for low lighting SPS ( Birdsnest) and LPS. Which ones are recommended? Any under $300?

I am considering single Al Prime since since its only $200 and PAR peak is suppose to go down to 12" with spread of 30x30.

Any experience with Al Prime for this tank?

Can anyone recomended on-line vendor to buy Nuvo 40 in the US (good and smooth transaction)?

I got mine from Marine Depot. Flawless transaction. The tank came double boxed and in perfect shape. They also shipped the stand in an extra box and got to me with no scratches.

InADream - sweet setup! Where are you running the fuge?

Thanks bud,

I have the fuge in one of the outer compartments and run the ghost skimmer in the next compartment. The other side has a filter sock and one empty compartment for the tubing and probes I'll be using.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I have been thinking about the Tunze skimmer..guess it's time to give it a try. I'm not sure about the "1.2 algae scrubber". How does it work and where do you put it? I don't have any compartments left. I've got a filter sock in left, media reactor/heater next, return, ATO, clamp for radion in the center, ghost skimmer next and the custome caddy last..and doesn't the Tunze skimmer have to go in one of the outer compartments? Also, my mp10's are hooked up to my apex so I can program different modes for different times of the day. Do I run nutrient export and pulse all day or just around feeding time. Sorry for all the questions..still trying to learn. There is so much to learn having a reef tank but I love it!

Left hand side has a filter sock next chamber has the drop algae scrubber

Right hand side Tunze 9004 skimmer then one spot for a MiniMax reactor that I am mod'ing to use as a zeovit reactor. Not media caddies where used in the operation of the aquarium.

I wish I knew how to program things. Took me forever to get my apex set up.
:)

So should I program both mp10's to run nutrient transport mode or program one to run nutrient and the other pulse. Run all day? I really appreciate the help and thanks for the photos. I have MS and pictures make things click in my brain:cool:

What I would do is run reef Crest mode most of the day and do nutrient export after your feeding for the night.
Pulse for a while some time during the day.

Nuvo 40 build

Nuvo 40 build

I am looking into Nuvo 40 how about this setup for SPS/LPS tank?

- IM Nuvo 40G
- IM 40G stand
- 30 lbs of LR
- Barebottom no sand
- Tunze 3155 ATO
- Tunze 9044 skimmer

Have not decided powerhead yet, trying to budget right now. Which powerhead would you recommend? Hydor koralia or Tunze? I like Ecotech MP10s but its expensive.

Have not decided on lighting. Planning to grow Seriatopora, Stylo,Montipora, Acan and Brain. Looking at Al Hydra 26 HD would this LED be overkill or would Al Prime lighting works?

I have the MP10 and have no regrets. It's completely silent even at high speeds. That said I opted for one and not two because of the cost. I have one of the cheaper Hydors for mixing salt water and it's really loud. I have other Tunze products and trust them as a brand in general.

Cycle is just about done! Ammonia 0
Nitrite under .05
Nitrate call it 8 (between 5 and 10)

I'm going to wait on the water change until I get part 2 of my package from TBS since I'll have to remove water to put the new rocks in anyway.

Diatoms are still unsightly though I think (hope) they are peeling from the rocks a bit.

Caught sight of a new crab today who lives under my pink sponge. I _think_ it's a porcelain but way too small to tell for sure. Real cutie though.

ETA: Whoops.. I meant to put this in my tank thread rather than here. Oh well, I guess it's also topical here!

Hi,

I own a 40 IM and I currently use the IM midsize skimmate protein skimmer. Im looking to upgrade to a better skimmer. I was looking at an Aquamaxx hob-1 and was wondering if anyone had any pictures of their sump with an aquamaxx hob-1 attached so i could see if it affects any of my other chambers. The skimmate is a little finicky but it does its job. I would like an easier and more powerful skimmer as my tank is getting packed.

My set up:
40 IM tank and stand (Been running over a year now)
IM media reactor (Mid size)
IM Skimmate (Mid size)
Kessil 360
1x mp10
Tunze 3155 ATO

Sump: (from left to right from front view)
1: IM caddy with purigen, matrix, and chemi pure elite
2: IM media reactor
3: heater, ATO, Stock pump
4: IM skimmate
5: In Tank media basket with chaeto using IM magnafuge light

PH 8.2
Nitrate 0
Calcium 420
Alk 9
Phos 0
Mag 1400
sal 1.026

Problem with Tunze 9004

Problem with Tunze 9004

I setup the skimmer about an hour ago ( placed it in the far right chamber) and the cup keeps rapidly filling up with white foam/water. I started it fully open as per th directions. I've slowly adjusted it as far closed as that litter plastic screw will go and nothing changes. I pulled out the cup and slowly adjusted the screw (after opening again) and it still bubbled like it was fully open. Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? I can't empty the cup every 10 minutes. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry, I only put the name in the title. It is the Tunze 9004, but I think I figured it out. When it came out of the box the little grey thing around the tubing was about 4 inches down the tube and the blue screw was almost completely unscrewed. Looking at the guide I noticed the grey thingy was at the very top..moved it and tried to tighten the screw, but it would slip out just a little, like the screw was stripped. Decided to push hard on the screw..it went all the way in and the flow stopped. I've been able to open it a little. Afraid to fully open just in case the screw is stripped. Have you ever heard of the screw stripping?

I finally got my HOB refugium on so I thought I'd share a picture of how it goes on with the EcoTech light mount. Putting the light on the fuge isn't ideal because it puts the light out of position but you can mount the fuge around it.

ETA: This is the size small CPR HOB refugium. It's a snug fit but works. It makes a little water noise but you can fit thst pretty easily. Pump is very quiet.

My screw isn't stripped. I did have a different issue with the skimmer - it makes a popping noise. I contacted Tunze and they sent me a free replacement impeller so I'd just contact them and they will hook you up right away. Great customer service.

By the way, the popping noise is from the air line getting slightly clogged (calcification). I now run hot water through it occassionally and problem solved.
