Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

I finally got my HOB refugium on so I thought I'd share a picture of how it goes on with the EcoTech light mount. Putting the light on the fuge isn't ideal because it puts the light out of position but you can mount the fuge around it.

ETA: This is the size small CPR HOB refugium. It's a snug fit but works. It makes a little water noise but you can fit thst pretty easily. Pump is very quiet.

Dria - looking good! The water noise drove me crazy at first. I bought a small acrylic drip plate and also added a small foam filter to the output and its much better but still noisy. If you come up with a better solution let me know.

Also lets see a FTS!

I setup the skimmer about an hour ago ( placed it in the far right chamber) and the cup keeps rapidly filling up with white foam/water. I started it fully open as per th directions. I've slowly adjusted it as far closed as that litter plastic screw will go and nothing changes. I pulled out the cup and slowly adjusted the screw (after opening again) and it still bubbled like it was fully open. Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? I can't empty the cup every 10 minutes. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

How high in the water column do you have the skimmer? Mine sits right up against the small lip in the chamber. Seems to be the perfect height. And I think you need to get that screw replaced. It definitely affects the skimmer and needs to be dialed in occasionally. I hope you get it figured out because its a great skimmer once up and running.

Yeah I have a piece of a cut up plastic cup under there right now and that cuts most of it. I tried a filter sponge first but I don't have one that fits just right.

Here's my latest FTS. The tank is really coming along nicely approaching the one month mark.

I've got another fish and three more corals coming tomorrow!

Guys BEWARE. My Innovative Marine stock pump today stopped working on my Fusion 40. After careful examination it appears this white silicone goop stuff had separated from the pump internals just under the top lid of the pump. These pieces were then sucked into the intake and fried the pump. Looks like this white silicone goop stuff was mashed in between what I can only describe as cooling fins (heat sink) from the pumps motor. Funny part is this is the second pump IM has sent me. The first one was giving me an electric shock from the silicone stuff separating where the cord is........... oh well fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Looks like I need to look for an aftermarket pump.

Oh, that's unfortunate! I haven't noticed mine doing anything strange. I know a lot of people in this thread like the Sicce Syncra 2.0. Fits well but might need an adapter? Don't remember the specifics, maybe someone who has one will respond.

I just took the plunge and ordered the 40,looking forward to setting it up and I have been reading through this for good info.Combing my present 20 gallon reef and 10 gallon reef into the 40. Sure I will be asking some questions later.

nuvo 40

nuvo 40

just a few photos from the past month. Tank is 5 months old. I had a Radion xr30 but changed it out for ATI 6 bulb with reefbrite led and it is exploding with color and growth.

40 gallon Nuvo

Well I got my 20 gallon and 10 gallon reef tanks consolidated into my new Nuvo 40 and everything survived.
I must say I do love this tank and its features.

Hi everyone! Completely new here, as you can see from my only post. I'm planning on buying a nuvo 40 as my first saltwater and first coral reef aquarium ever! I'm currently building a shopping list, and I was wondering if anyone could give me advice.

My main concerns are making the tank as quiet as possible, lots of biodiversity, and

Tank: Nuvo 40 of course ^_^
Stand: A really awesome endtable with legs thicker than my limbs.
Pump: Just the stock one for now, to save money? As long as they're quiet?
Heater: Eheim Jager 100w
Skimmer: Tunze 9004, I've heard is very quiet? Are there others I should be considering?
Lighting: Where I'm most stuck. Again, my biggest concerns are biodiversity, quiet, and cost. I'm thinking of going LED's, but I don't know what's sufficient and what is not for this tank.
Extra flow: I have no idea really what to do here, could use as much advice as possible.
Testing: I'm getting a refractometer, and the saltwater master test kit by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals. Are there other test kits I definitely need, and if so, what else do I need?
Additional things: Is there anything I'm missing?

Any help is really appreciated ^_^
Thanks everybody!

Hi everyone! New here, and planning on buying a Nuvo 40 as my first saltwater and first coral reef tank ^_^

I'm planning on making my goals biodiversity, affordability, and above all - quiet!
So, I've been building a list of items, and was wondering if anyone would be able to help me in deciding what to get here and there.
Tank: Nuvo 40 of course.
Stand: Really cool end table with huge legs.
Pump: Standard (as long as its quiet)
Light: Here's where I've been agonizing the most. I'm planning on going LEDs, because they're cool and quiet, and that's good, but I have no idea what's good, and what will work for my sized tank, and what will be affordable.
Flow/powerheads: Another place I'm stuck. I'm really just lost here. I don't know what's sufficient, what's quiet, and what's affordable.
Testing: I'm going to get the Aquatic Pharmaceuticals saltwater master test kit, but are there additional tests I need?
Heater: Eheim Jager 100 watt.
Additional things: Are there additional things I need? What else should be a definite thing for my shopping list? Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks everyone!

Regarding LEDs ,I have the Current Orbit Marine on my tank,24 inch, which is very affordable. However,if you plan on getting into the high light needed sps you would need the Current Orbit Marine Pro which is more.On my Nuvo 40 I use two Hydor Koralia 240's connected to the Hydor Koralia Smart Wave which gives me great alternating flow in the tank.
Look at:Ricksreef1 on youtube to see the flow I get.

Oh, thank you for your response. Those Current Orbit Marines look nice. However, I was wondering if there's a way to reduce or turn off the shimmer effect. Or are there lighting sets with less shimmer?
