My stock pump has become a buzzing machine after 3 months...

THink I will get a SICCE.... I assume the SICCE Syncra 2.0 is the one to get.

If you have one...

1. Does it fit in the sump with no tricks or issues
2. What fittings will I need to pipe it up to piping that came with system.... seem Syncra 2.0 is 3/4 fitting?? Do I need some sort of adapter to hook up to stock tubing in IM 40?

If I need fittings, please be specific...do I put a reducer of some sort BEFORE the "Y" adapter, or do I need to replumb everything to 3/4 tubing ??
Its a hassle to get that pump in & out, I had one and took it out after 2 weeks. Way quieter but cleaning it would be a total pain! You have to screw the hose barb in with the pump in the chamber, and If you wish to get the pump out for any reason, you have to take it out. I had it at the lowest setting, on the cover front knob. It made an annoying vibrating sound when open at full blast which defeated the whole purpose. The fitting I was able to find at home depot for less than $2. in the plumbing section

Hey all, if you where only going to buy a IM stand for this tank, which one do we choose, Piano preboard black or new APS alluminum stand ( wood grain only right now)? I was looking to get a stand built, but issue have put that in major delay. Want to get up and running. thanks for all opinions.....

Doesn't the pump slide right down in the chamber, and this fitting sticks straight up.... Why can't you lift the pump straight out??

It doesn't fit straight down, you have to slide it down into the chamber sideways. When I tried to take it out I couldn't unscrew the hose barb so I ended up somehow pulling the propeller covers to get it out, and that itself was a pain in the Arse!!!

Please let us know the ease or lack thereof in using this pump. I was planning on using this from the start but then heard it's a PITA getting it in and out of that chamber.

I say it ain't worth the hassle!! Go with stock, buy a back up instead.

Yeah I'm kinda with you on this one. When I called BRS to order the Sicce 2.0 for the Nuvo 40, they recommended I go with the 1.5. Even though it was slightly less output than the stock pump that's what recommended. I'm gonna use the stock pump until I HAVE to change it.

Then when it hits bottom, you turn it to sit on the rubber feet? Or it remains sideways... and by sideways you mean the back is in first, and the rubber feet are on the vertical side ?

I have it as well. Total pain to get in. I tried once toclean it and gave up. That as a year ago. On the plus side, it runs quiet and I haven't noticed any decline in performance due to lack of cleaning.

I went with the sicce 1.5. Fit perfect. I have mp10 so did not mind losing a lil gph on return. It's 100x better than stock. Much more quiet.

OK... so the Sicce 1.5 fits in with on gymnastics and can use the same tubing? No need to buy a special fitting for the 1.5.

Did you have a noticeable drop in flow? Or does it feel like it's about same? The IM pump is such a poorly fitted, poor tolerance piece of krap, I doubt it pumps it's rated GPH, so wondering if the much better built Sicce is basically putting out nearly the same actual GPH.

I switched to the Sicce 2.0, just take off all the crap on it that you don't need (back cover, flow restrictor and front cover) and it fits in with little trouble. The 2.0 has about the same flow at the stock pump IMO, I would be concerned with low flow with the 1.5. The Sicce pump runs almost dead quite.

Since I don't have mine set up yet. Stand issues. What is the biggest complaint with the factory return pump? Is it kind of like new car we want to just upgrade?

I spoke with Paul from IM, about stand issues (Back Ordered) (Hopefully they will have APS wood grain next week?) and was very open about all my questions. he didn't feel there was a real need for these pumps to upgraded. He did warn that getting to much difference in GPH could cause for back chamber to get low.

I did see on BRS where they are wrapping pumps with a sink mat to help with viberation.

Paul said to like them on all social media, for chance to win a new drop down tank.

My IM 40 pump was fine for 4 months... now it buzzes and rattles. On my two IM 14 gal peninsula tanks, the pumps were krap right out of the package.

My experience with the SICCE 0.5 pump, which I put into both my IM 14 tanks is that they are dead silent.

So it's kinda like buying better tires for your car.... does the car work with the stock, noisy, low grip tires? Yes. Does it work much better with Pirellis? Yes. So I buy the Pirellis.

Thanks, now I will look into this before setup.

Disappointing to see a vendor stick their head in the sand, or choose to lie. Their pumps are total krap. Total. They know it. They want the extra $10/tank they will make by shipping a garbage pump.

That's a bit harsh. BRS are actually a good vendor who try to make the hobby better. Anyway ive been running no the stock pump for 7 months with no problems.

What's the best way to remove sand? When I set up the tank I used 40 pounds and it was way too much. I have about a 3 inch sand band and before the tank gets established more, I'd like to remove at least half of the sand. Should I just go in with a plastic cup and scoop ONE out per week until I hit the desired amount? I don't want to cause any spikes or kill anything off.

Thanks in advance.
