I am looking for some suggestions for additional fish to add to the tank, Any Ideas? 9I am planning for future additions, nothing being added for at least a month0

Currently I have...
2 Clowns
1 Bi-color Blenny ( He is a rip.. My wife loves him)
1 Clown Goby
1 Cleaner Shrimp
1 Damsel ( Want to get rid of him, he is a bully)

:fish1::fish1:

Cardinals go well with clowns. I like the bangai cardinals. Just need to find one that eats prepared food. They are very fussy eaters so ask to see them eat if you look at them.
I'm going for a sailfin blenny myself. Lots of character there too.and an appetite for algae.

Here is the one I am using, I love it... It has some nice safety features and a pump included for $100

That Ato is a rebranded fishstreet system imo.. They call it the triple sensor electronic dc auto filler.. It's $48 there so about half the price. Same thing with aquamedic powerhead nowadays rebranded jebao pumps..

Not saying it's bad as I don't know but your definitely paying for a name with at least those two aquamedic items just an FYI ..

Someday I want to add a Mandarine Goby!
Basslet fish are colorful and have good personality along with most wrasse's. My full stocked list will be my 2x clowns, a starry blenny and either a mcoskers wrasse or another colorful male wrasse of the fairy or flasher category. My local fish guy has a bunch of super males for a good deal and I'm going to add one last.. Lately his are all pretty small and most places like live aquaria reccomend a 50g tank so if it's not happy I'll add it to one of my other systems but I feel it will do fine..

Thanks Reduck ... SUPER helpful. I was looking at a controller (APEX), but the tank location is a REALLY long way from the router and I decided to wait for a wifi version (I know we have all been waiting for a wifi version).

I completely agree with Reduck. I'm still building my tank out, but knew for sure that I wanted to use an Apex and went with a wifi adapter. I used the Netgear WNCE2001 and it works fine. It's tiny, so it's very easy to mount in the stand with some 3M Command strips. Took me longer to get it plugged into a power outlet and mounted in the stand than it took to setup. I think Bizacon mentioned the Apple Airport Express, and I know those to be good products, too. You just need some sort of inexpensive wireless bridge.

The Apex is so incredibly powerful and flexible - you'll love it! I decided to go with a Kessil light and already have the programming done in the Apex even though my light won't physically be here until tomorrow or Monday. Read through some of Bizacon's travel-related posts and see how he's really taking advantage of it while he is traveling. There are just so many use cases for it! If you're even slightly considering it, I would HIGHLY recommend just grabbing one of those wifi adapters and making it work. If you run into any issues configuring your wireless bridge, it sounds like enough of us on this thread are using a wifi bridge of some sort to be able to help you out.

So I put together a list completely of my tank.

Current equipment:
IM Fusion 40
ATI 6x24 Dimmable T5HO
Eshopps PSK-75 Protein Skimmer
EcoTech Marine MP10
EcoTech Marine MP10
100w Heater

Husbandry:
10 Gallon water change when needed
Glass cleaned every other day, or when needed.
Fish fed morning and night (Just added more for more fish poop for the SPS)
Test Ca/Mag/Alk with Red Sea Pro kits
Dose Ca/Mag/Alk accordingly. Tank hasn't set in enough to have a solid ammount reduced daily.

Ignore the cord management. Moving out in 5 months and I'll have a lovely new stand to hide all the cords!

I believe that there are different levels that people want to invest in this hobby. I remember, 13 years ago just throwing in rock and some sand and watching my fish. As I gained more knowledge about the hobby, I wanted to monitor my tank more and more. Now that I have a 2 yr old daughter that loves watching her multi colored yumas and hammer garden, I knew I needed a controller. I love the fact that I turned off the dosing pumps when I saw my ph rise and decided to do lights out for two days before I get home.. See some browning on the sand. I didn't have a controller for a while, but now I can't live without it.

At the end of the day, it goes back to what level you want to invest into the hobby, both time and money. The choice is yours, but at the end of the day you just need to have fun!!

Now back to the poker tables in Macau to win some money for my tank

For cord management there has to be an attempt at it :). He is moving in 5 months so I do understand a little. I just hate the cords in general.

Hahaha. Need a bigger tank!!! Going black until Saturday night. See a little aglea on the sand

Ha.. I turned the lights back on.. just can't drive myself to keep the lights off for a day. The tank looks good for the most part. Pulled the dropcam up on the mac and it looks pretty good. Back on...flying back tomorrow (saturday) so will be able to get in a water change on sunday..

Thanks for the feedback, I didn't know that.

Since I have a Bi-Color Blenny, can I safely add a Tailspot or Sailfin Blenny to the tank?

Blenny's usually don't get along to well with each other typically in my experience. Especially with it being a 40g I would stick with one personally, but with that said I'm sure it's been done..

Agree. Unless you have tons of hiding places, I'd expect a battle!

Wow - what a day! My 16 year old passed his driving test at 11.30am today (with me in the back seat practically havinga a heart-attack from nerves!!) Half my tank goodies arrived via UPS at 1.30pm ... and then I got a phone call from my LFS that my tank and all the other goodies have arrived. Just back from collecting them. I'm too tired to unpack anything !! LOL

Congrats...get a volvo for him!!!

Those days are great when everything arrives! Have fun with it and enjoy it. Cycling can take a long time, so this may be the only excitement for a month.

There was an attempt! I'm happy this ATI has 1 cord! The T5 I was borrowing had 3 lol. Yeah definitely come September, you'll only see MP10 cords and the light cords! I wanna hide everything. Biggest pet peeve is cords in the open! lol.
