Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

whats a good price for a used one?

Prob about 50-60 bucks. I wouldn't skimp on the price of a new one. They have a great warranty. Pumps are like $30 on their own. It and the float are prob most susceptible to failure. If you buy used, please order a spare pump. Nothing worse than waking up to the sound of a screaming sump...and they always fail in the middle of the night....at least at my house they do...

Anyone running a CPR Aquafuge off of the Fusion 40? I'm contemplating stetting up the small one but was a bit worried about the weight on the tank. I spoke with CPR and they assured me it has never been an issue because if properly balanced the weight is almost 100% straight down on the glass (v. what I imagined would be the weight pulling against the glass).

I'll be posting my tank build soon (including custom stand build).

I have one of the older pump less ones... Works pretty well for isolation or acclimation. It's the in tank version so no extra weight.

Wow! Looks great, I would skip the XR15 and just go with the XR30.. only have to buy once :)

Tank looks great.. I need to pull out the camera and take some decent shots. Maybe once I get back on the correct time zone

Not enough pictures of all the subscribers tanks =) .. Show what your working on... the good, the bad and the beautiful.. Please post some pics of your Nuvo for some inspiration to others and ideas.

I'll start with mine.. My daughter's tank an attempt to be an easy addition to the house and less maintenance than my full blown sps reef in the living room.. It's coming along but far from done/satisfied in my book.. Not impressed with the kessil so the XR15 pro, rms Mount and reef link are in process. Few random.. Diatoms from new sand are finally on the way out ( only real new thing in the tank lol.. Rock is over 2 years old

If you can swing it, I would go new. A lot of times brs and marine depot will get a deal going. They have a solid warranty, and not something you want to go cheap with.

Yea I'm not sure yet. Still early.

Do you still have your flame angel? I'm thinking of getting one for my tank in the future

Tank finally got wet today! Just freshwater right (now leak testing). Good and bad news I moved my kessil a350w over to the tank and it starting turning on and off on its own but the fan would continue to run and it wasn't over heating either the house was at 71 degrees. [emoji35] so I got ahold of kessil and they said my light is still covered under warranty (I bought the light March of 2013) so my warranty was up this month and they will be sending me out a brand new light and should have it by the end of the week!

Nope :( He was the last victim of the crash...he was awesome! Great fish to have in that tank. Angels usually can bully and not do well in the 40. I have had good luck with them, but I think I am done with them now.

Looking good. Is, or was, the rock and sand in there live?
soaking it in fw may not be too good an idea. Unless you are trying to kill off unwanted hitchhikers..
Glad the kessil folks took care of you. That's good to hear.
I love seeing little tanks next to the fusion. It's a sign of progress! Cool!

Looking good! Once you get the new one, sell it and get a radion :)

Make sure you hook up that canister filter in chamber #1 :spin3:

Kessil has great customer service. I just received my new 360 and the clamp for the goose neck was defective. I got on the phone and 2 minutes later had a new clamp being mailed to me no questions asked. Tank looks great by the way.

FWIW I also have the HOB 1 and the way I have it setup is the intake draws from chamber 5 and I have the output in the center chamber this way the same water isn't recirculated

Good call. That makes sense. I shifted mine over as you mentioned. Did you trim the yellow air hose any? I'm thinking about trimming an inch or so off to try and make it just a bit less noticeable. Should still be able to reach the sump in order to prime the skimmer.

Picked up a Pair of ClownFishes! Got a Percula Clown and A Mocha Percula Clown :)
Hopefully I can get a anemone soon for these guys.

Can someone post a picture of their ghost skimmer sitting in the 2nd chamber please?
I feel like i didn't set it up correctly, its still a bit noisy. I usually unplug it for 3-5hrs a day since I'm still using MacBacteria (instructions said turn off Protein Skimmers).
And the Cup is sitting 2.5-3" high.

I did notice that the white valve, if I blocked it, quiets down the system. I read online that someone actually used a hose and extended the valve to quiet it down. Anyone done that?

thanks

No I haven't trimmed it. I bought it knowing it would visible but it performs so well I really don't mind I love seeing that cup get filled with thick dark gunk

I'll get you a pic later today. As it breaks in the noise will reduce. If the air intake is loud you can always turn it down. It does not need to be open all the way to make good foam. I barely hear mine anymore.
Inherently, the ghost has a rattle from the bubble plate. It becomes quieter with time as the parts build a slime coat. Make sure that the pump is seated into the body securely. If its not, you will get a lot of micro bubbles.

Macbacter is good stuff. I used it for a while. I heard some people even dose it. I would suppose if you didn't have adequate live rock and sand bed, you'd need more bacteria added from time to time. In a normal healthy system, it shouldn't be needed.

Thanks man! You guys are really helpful. I just checked my water and I'm reading;
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 10ppm (im assuming this spike is from the fishes)

I'll try turning down the valve. It's annoying my lady

On a better note, I think I'm gonna to get the tunze Ato from a local for around $45 today

You are quite welcome. I would consider a WC for those nitrates pretty quick, if it stays that high for another 24 hours...

Our tank is in the LR. I hear it (skimmer) but its far from annoying. When the house is silent, I hear the Vortechs whining more than anything else. Especially in pulse mode or high reef crest. The other pumps are virtually silent.

The Rock is dry rock from brs, the sand is "live" but don't know how much of that is true will be adding salt today. The customer support for kessil is top notch IMO. The light they are sending me is not refurbished but brand new and also carries a two year warranty.

Oh man you have the same mindset as me. I was thinking of selling the light to get a radion. I'll be sure to put that canister filter in the first chamber is that what works for you?? [emoji13]

Yea kessil has great customer service, I'm really happy with them so far. Thank you for the compliment!
