Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

Here are a couple other locations I'm trying out. 2nd & 3rd are the same.

I like the way our tank looks in a corner try that?

No idea why this turned so purple and blown out in the picture.
In person it's not really purple but a very deep blue.

It's the white balance of your phone or camera. It's confused. Try focusing on the rock or sand bed since they are close to white.

This is wife's last choice, she hates how it looks when you are coming down the stairs.

You might be in the same boat as I am. Consider building a canopy. Or having one built. That will take care of most of the light spill issues, then put it where you want by the screen. It won't be 100% effective, but it will help. Try mocking one up with cardboard and see...

I need some help. I know this could go in the chemistry forum, but you all have been so helpful before. I am still battling an algae issue. my water is testing fine, both by my tests and LFS. I am using RO Di water and using coral pro salt. I have tried everything. Right now I am running Chemipure blue, phosban and charcoal. I have tried ROWAphos, phosban, Acurel phosphate removing media, Chemipure elite, chemipure blue, two little fishies hydrocarbon and purigen in all different combinations. My tank is 1 year old. This algae looks like red/brown on the sand. It is not slimy or stringy.
It is also on the back wall. I can take a tooth brush and take it off the back wall with little effert. It does not grow on my corals or rock. My corals are doing great through all of this. I could use any other suggestions on what to do to help get rid of this.

I'm definitely no expert, so I'll encourage these other guys to jump in if they see a problem with this. My understanding is that algae growth is almost always indicative of phosphates present. Even though the water might be testing fine, that could be because the phosphates generated from other biological processes have reached an equilibrium with the algae where there is exactly enough algae now present to consume available phosphates.

I've heard good things about Reef Cleaners and their support in customizing a clean-up crew that can help deal with very specific issues like you're having. I've also heard good things about using high-capacity GFO in a media reactor to bind phosphates. Might be worth trying GFO in one of the IM reactors to see if that offers better phosphate binding that what you've had with Phosban and RowaPhos.

I forgot to mention I did contact reef cleaners and their clean up crew didn't help either :(

No I am not running cheato. Maybe that should be my next thing to try. I don't have access to the back, to cut the back panel so how would I run cheato. I did read somewhere that people were using an underwater light

Do you have a tds measuring system? You could run cheato, but we want to know the cause of it. How many fish and coral how much do you feed? Your test could test "fine" the algae is feeding off of the nutrients.

1. Tds on rodi water?
2. Fish/coral?
3. Feeding?

I have officially lost my backyard corner to my two year old daughter today....ordered a playground set. I told her that if she tries to take my grilling space, I putting her up for adoption :)

I returned my last clown to the lfs..working on trying to get a snowflake pair. One lfs has a nice pair that an employee had in their tank for a year. Has even a little blue in them..want 250 for them... trying to work them down to 250 with the rbta (guess i will get another one) that is hosting them.

I do not have a tds meter. Is this a good one to buy? http://www.amazon.com/HM-Digital-TD...d=1430008009&sr=8-1&keywords=tds+tester+meter I have 2 clown fish and 1 damsel. I feed every 2 days and not too much. I don't think feeding is the issue. I do have a lot of coral. I have mostly softies. My son broke down his tank and gave me what he had. I have had this algae issue before I added what my son gave me. It dosen't seem to harm the corals. They all look healthy.

Yes buy one and we can start there. rodi water is only as good as the filter. The filters can wear out pretty fast. I have a 4 stage brs filter and i am always looking at my tds every time i do a water change. I will replace when it hits .01 Not worth the risk.
