Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

Nothing fun. Just a couple of emeral crabs and a cool looking zoas. Have some bubble algae I wanted to get rid of. Just shined the light on the tank and both were eating it.

They better just stick to that and leave all the coral alone. :)

Once the ba is gone, feed them. Otherwise they may eat something important..

Spent the night at the emergency vet. Our eldest (17) beagle fell down the deck steps. She couldn't stand up...so nothing was broken on the X-rays, but she spent the night there on iv drugs to see if that will reduce the swelling and pain. Her neck is very sore and she's afraid to move because of the pain...hopefully she can stand and walk and come home today...
Never a dull moment around here...

Ahh... Hope she feels better today. Those trips are never fun at all. Is Deramaxx still the anti-inflammatory of choice for dogs? It's been several years since my Weimaraner passed away and I feel out of touch with the dog world now.

She has been on metacam for arthritis and sometimes tramidol. Don't know what they gave her last night but she was not in too much pain when we left her. We will see what anti inflammatory she got when we (hopefully) pick her up later today. It's very worrisome due to her age and other ailments..she has bad arthritis in all four knees as it is...if she can stand and walk we will be thrilled.

Sorry to hear about the dog, hopefully they will get right back at it. 17 is a great age!!!

Went to a reefers house..had posted over on MR... He is less than a mile away from me. I wanted to support him so I bought a few things :)

Will post later

Update on Phosphate / algae issue

Update on Phosphate / algae issue

So ... just came home after a couple nights away. Tank has been dark for 48 hours, increased MP10 flow, Chemi Pure Elite running ... LR looks MUCH better. There's still algae, but it seems visibly less and a little brown in spots, less green. I have 13 gallons of RODI ready for a slightly larger water change tomorrow (I usually do about 9.5 gallons) ... and some Phosphate remover on order from Amazon - should arrive tomorrow. I can totally see the difference in the look of the LR - it looks clean, not slightly fuzzy. Thanks Reduck and everyone else who provided great suggestions!

She's staying another night. Still in pain..
Meanwhile here is Frank II. Still settling in.

Awesome. If it's turning color, it's dying off. keep up the good work. Don't be surprised if it gets a little worse after the wc. let it run its course.

I was wondering why the fish keep pecking at the back wall and glass - particularly in the corners - so I got the magnifying glass out ... and there are little white / grey critters scurrying around. I'm assuming they are little pods ... which I think it a good thing, right ?

Yup. Pods or some algae the scraper didn't get. Little white things are usually pods...and yes, they are good!

I know it's not reef related our beagle is coming home tonight. She's still a bit sore but she up and getting around slowly with some help...thanks for the kind words.

Frank II has settled in and is cruising the tank and eating well. he's been seen eating spectrum herbivore pellets and algea off the rocks...the harliquin pair has finished their starfish and are now wandering with full tummies..
All is well...

Finally, my turn to chime in. I've been reading for a while. I saw the problems you guys were having with the stand so I built my own.

Not my best work but it'll get the job done. Just got my tank two days ago.

So next is the light, I think I will do the xr15pro, since it seems none of you guys have it at 100% and grow sps corals fine. I also want to know which skimmer is the quietest, I like the tunze but the rate of pump failure scares me.

Nice stand I built my own too I think we're the only 2. I have the aquamaxx HOB skimmer, once it breaks it you can't even hear it and it's prob the best nano skimmer out there

Hello everyone. I've been following this thread off and on since I set my tank up in late February 2015. In fact this is my first post on Reef Central. I have enjoyed reading the thoughts and advice and hearing about your successes and failures. The depth of knowledge on this forum is incredible and I know we all benefit from this "Think Tank."

I have a custom built stand as well. There is no divider inside, just a shelf at the top to hold various items. I am also running the X15G3Pro. It is certainly doing a fine job at this time, but a small piece of me wishes I would have just bought the X30. The main reason for the regret is that I am likely to get a bigger tank in the future and it would convert easier to a longer tank.

Current stocking:
2 Snowflake Clowns
1 Starry Blenny
1 Rose Bubble Tip Anemone
1 Hammer
1 A. Gold Torch
Fire and Ice Zoanthus
other various Zoas

Loving this little tank so far. It's been a lot of fun.

Nice work on the stand. It should work out nice with all the open space.
Are you planning on leaving it in that corner? It may make maintenence a bit tricky..
Welcome aboard!

Welcome to our slice of the ocean!

Yea...you'll want to upgrade eventually...but for now it's a good start. Don't regret your purchase. It's still an awesome light. Post pics when you have time!

Left the hobby for about a month and well, I'm back! Decided on the IM 40 Gallon Fusion as an all anemone-clownfish set up. Planning on Picasso Clowns with a bunch of bubble tips. Realistically, how many of these ocellaris clownfish can I put in this size tank? Planning on putting them all in at the same time as juveniles. Only other things I would have in the tank is a fire shrimp and clean up crew.
