Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

How is your sicce pump biz? Last sicce pump I had was really loud! For this tank, I went with the Jebao DC pump Hooked into Apex. I can turn the flow up or down as needed.

Also Reduck, I was under the assumption that the maxima clams will attach to rocks if you put them on one? Mines been on the same rock since I got it. But this morning I found it flipped over in the sand, so I put it back on the rock, about 6 hours later I found it flipped over in the sand again.

Pump is doing amazing... tank likes the added flow. I do not have an issue with noise, very quiet. I like to stay on the right side of the pond for pumps, just have been proven to make quality ones.

The clam should attach if it's happy where it's at. Or it will try to move. Yours obviously isn't happy there anymore. Or maybe another occupant knocked him over..or too high flow up there?

Mine still turns like a clock but he's still within an inch of where I put him on the bed. I haven't checked to see if his foot is attached.

How high are your lights during the day? Maybe he's trying to find a sunnier locale?

Ahem....about that crushed o ring mr biz...
Mine came today. I'll grab the reducer tomorrow and chuck it in....
I thought about a dc pump but I don't see the need.

Gentlemen and Mrs. Fish....Go order the Sicce Syncra Silent 2.0. It works perfectly for the tank...I might even turn down the flow a little.

Installation is easy. You slide down the pump and then put on the male adapter. I went to home depot and got a 3/4 in x 1/2 in reducer that you see in the picture. The output tubes are 1/2 in. Got that down in there...going to be easy to pull out and clean.

It is quiet and is a much improvement improvement from the OEM pump and the Eheim +2000.

Enjoy..

I'm very entertained by Bizacon's recent reply ... "Gentleman and Mrs Fish" ... too funny! I think someone else started a message that way too! I am honored!!

Got another Phosphate test today - Red Sea Phosphate Pro kit. Didn't have time to run a test yet ... however ran every test in the 2 sets of API Master Reef test kits ... all normal ... even the phosphate. Have NOT run the phosphate on the RODI water again ... and since I'm running CPE, I don't expect to see phosphates in the tank (although I was sure I had a reading the other day).

I was trying to see the 'for sale' forum, I know you need to be a member for a certain amount of time ... but how long is that? I've actually been a member since 2007, although not active all the time. I have a LOVELY GSP (the large polyps) rock ... looking to sell ... I was able to grow enough of the mat to stick on the back wall in a couple of places (growing well ...) don't need the rest ... passing on the love (for a small price!)

The pump that comes with the IM40 is rated at 476 GPH and the Syncra is rated at 568 GPH. The additional 92 GPH is nice but if you have to turn it down I wonder if it's worth it? Do you think you will run it at 100%?

Anyone figure out how to have a small sump on this tank without fear of autosiphoning? Or concern about return pump failing? That was a real problem with my last tank - 160g system - wouldn't want to go there again ... but I'd love to have a tiny sump, fuge (no room for hang-on-back fuge)

Suggestions?

It was a quick thought! I am going to continue running full. I have it pointing on rocks and surface to create little waves.

Yes totally worth it. You want a good amount of flow, also helping turn the water over quicker

I believe it 50 posts and 90 days to see and use classifieds...
I actually received an infraction for posting early...LOL...

You still may see phosphates, just not as high as you thought. .02 is good for example in my tank...the Red Sea kit should be pretty accurate. I like them a lot for nitrate and mag.
Once the absorption media is saturated it stops working. I know they say cpe can work for up to three months but I have never seen that happen in this tank...my 12g yes.

I never had luck with gsp..
I like it too...maybe if you can peel a sheet off I'll take it off your hands and try again.

I considered it, but these AIO systems are engineered to not need one. I saw an article or question in the diy forum about drilling an iM tank not too long ago. That sound like trouble in my mind...
I know a few of us have multiple tanks. Maybe just pick up a pico tank to use as a fuge? I keep thinking about it too, just to keep pods and starfish...just use wc water to keep it going..

Not able to go through all 70+ pages right now but great threads, tons of great info. I've been manually topping off my tank but had to buy a ATO (went with Autoaqua Smart) because I'm going on vacation next month. and was wondering what containers is everyone using that could fit in the IM stand?

Agreed. When I was shopping for this tank, I looked at some sumped systems and decided it wasn't for me. Hearing horror stories of leaks and blowouts. That wouldn't fare well for our hardwood floors and the floors below. I still worry about blowouts, just not as much anymore. Even now, looking at 100g systems, I'm having a tough time deciding sump or not. AIO technology has really advanced. Look at cad lights saio tanks. They are easily as nice as a sumped system, without the worry. Same with the IM SR80 or 120.
There is plenty of room in the larger AIO sumps for pretty much anything...

My point, if I wanted a sump I would of bought a different tank.

ghost is ok. there may be better, but its engineered to fit perfectly and it does.
as biz said, its a pita to start up with the microbubbles, but once it breaks in, its completely functional and does the job with little noise.

I'm STILL fighting with microbubbles out of the HOB-1, too. About the time it finally started to lessen (or perhaps about the time I just got used to seeing them) I had to turn it off for a few days to dose Praziquantel. Started it back up about three days ago and have more microbubbles than ever before. I've tried moving the cup up, moving it down, cleaning the whole thing, adjusting a screw on the bubble plate, and putting one of the original foam blocks that came in the media basket on the output tube. Even after four weeks of break-in period, it would still randomly go from not producing skimmate when I went to bed to totally filling the cup and overlowing at some point in the middle of the night. Never have figure that one out, either. Obviously nothing gets dosed at 3am and the height of the collection cup isn't changing. Have no explanation for why after four or five days of the cup being in the same position producing fairly dry skimmate that it would just randomly go nuts and suddenly decide to start overflowing.

So far I have to say that the Aquamaxx HOB-1 is the only piece of equipment I've purchased that I'm not pleased with... and it is the most expensive outside of the Apex. Oh, and as others have mentioned it has just about zero "wife-acceptance factor".

I really need to figure out what is wrong with my tank.. No matter how much Kalk or alk dosing I put in I still lose 1-2 dKH per day.. I'm using saturated kalk water AND 30 ml of alk and calcium per day and it still drops 1-2 per day...

Wow. How much sps do you have?? That does not seem right unless you are sps dominant. Or your clam is still growing? How big is he? Are you starting to see a lot of coralline growth?

This seemed to be my problem too when I started dosing and paying attention to alk and calcium. Once I decided I wanted my dkh at 9-10 I started with kalk. Couldn't maintain it, and at that time I manually dosed 10/10 each day. Still wouldn't go up. (That's when I figured out I had a bad salt mix) So fresh salt mix, 30% wc. Dkh was 8.x for a day. Then dropped down to 7.0. So I started dosing baking soda/Ro mix. that would bring it back up. Then three days later, right back in the 7s. At the same time, I stopped kalk since it wasn't doing its job. I cranked up the doser to 28ml alk 15ml cal. And let it be. Tested every three days. Held at 8.8dkh. Let it go longer and it must have reached its sweet spot at 9.9dkh. So I backed down doser to 20ml. Left it there for three weeks. And a couple 10g wc. Stable at 9.x dkh. Cal has been holding at 450.

I decided to stop sweating the numbers too. This hobby takes time. And while spiking 2 part will bring the numbers to where you want immediately, it's not good for the creatures. You already know that. You could dose 50 alk and lower you cal dose. It's not unheard of...or spot dose baking soda to get it up,then go higher alk dose to keep it there.
Give it time. Keep up the wc. I know you use a quality salt mix so that not the issue. Watch your corals for stress and just leave it be. It will balance out as creatures absorb it....in the end the tank will tell you how it's doing..
