Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

I am going to order up some BRS live rock and start cooking it for the future tank... I did aquamaxx for the 40, but since I have some time, going to go with the BRS.

Hard part is now the waiting... its going to be a price switch over since my MP10w es will not work with the the reefer 350..glass is too thick.

So just got back from the show. Good attendance. If it wasn't for the two from ATM running around, it would have been awesome. Lots of coral vendors. Lots of real nice pieces. The mrs bought a blueberry gorgonian, I bought a 75g cadlights tank. They actually brought the 100g just for me to see and offered me a great deal on it with rock sand and all..but it is just too big for the space allotted. Meanwhile they did have a great show special and I couldn't say no...
So I bought it. I did see the apex par meter, it's pretty cool (except for the rock) and the wav (not ready for prime time). Had a chat with ecotech guys, who were really nice. They had a spectacular Red Sea reefer going...
Can't believe we only came home with one coral. She was offered an insane deal on an open brain, but we have no sand space for it, so we had to pass...
All in a all a good time...
I guess my time here will be limited to delivery and setup of the tank...
Anyone in the NE looking for a good deal on mine..let me know....

You can't leave the club. It's not allowed.

Thanks for the feedback. Glad you guys had a good time. They going to pallet ship it? Need to start cooking that rock!

Now we can give you crap for putting a tang in a 75 :)

I was reading on Red Sea that they were going to have a reefer set up at the show. I bet it was amazing!

I just ordered more aquamxx. I like that stuff. I'll cook it with some sand if it gets here before the tank, otherwise it'll go in dry and seed itself from the current rock. It's now got a good coating of coralline on it.
Yea, I guess they will pallet ship it. I'll be enlisting help to move it into the house..no doubt....

If the tank they were talking about was in Ecotechs booth..yea..it was gorgeous!
People were stopping to take pics of it. They must have had 5k in coral in that bad boy!
I just realized I didn't take one single pics all day...
Sorry.ll
..........

Ignoring the tang comment.....

Pictures never do any good anyways.

Ya I have aquamaxx dry rock now...maybe I will just order some more and start cooking in a rubbermaid.

What are you thinking on lighting? I am jealous..I do not think I like you anymore :)

Been following this thread closely, thanks for all the updates. I am a Nuvo 40 mini owner with a hydra 26, 2x minimax reactors (biopellets, GFO) and the aquamaxx HOB-1. Will post some pics of my setup as soon as my ATO/RODI is up and running with the breakout box.

OsiViper, after seeing your calcium reactor I have been considering purchasing this model. Are you finding that the S-NANO is too small? Would you recommend other owners to get this model or a larger one?

I think you know my answer to that....I have an extra g3pro. Remember, I sent my g1 in for upgrading when I got the new 3pro. So it'll be 2 on a 36" reefkoi mount. He's just sending me the top bar and one radion mount. Good to go...
Now if my mp's will stick to 10mm glass I'll be happy...I think they are rated for 9.5 so I'm going to push that envelope...hate to have to buy 40s...or wav's..
They looked so unfinished..

Oh ya I forgot about that, nice. Maybe it is time to get a clean look with the rms mount.

I think you will be fine with the MP10..some people are using them on a 12mm glass.

I like the industrial look of the reefkoi mount. I don't like the rms look at all. Actually cad has a light mounting system now too..I have time...meanwhile I also have the light bar coming..
So far since I got home, 50lbs of rock, 60lbs of reef flakes select, and the light bar....glad I got the big bucket of rscp last time...I think I'm done spending money for today..
I can use the IM reactor for a while...and part of the package was a 120g rated cad skimmer. So I think I'm set..

And , hey, I'll finally get the rat nest cleaned up!

If anyone has an extra radion hanging mount kit lmk! I have the radios hung but if I could get an extra kit I'll take it

Also anyone have any sexy shrimps? Just got two of them today and was reading that they may NOT be reef safe.
Any thoughts?

Glad to hear that you were able to get a good deal on the 75g tank. Just looking at the photos on the web, it looks super impressive. I do agree with Bizacon though - you have to stay around here! What was it about the CAD Lights setup that convinced you to go that route versus its competitors like the Red Sea? I took my wife to the big LFS that's within driving distance today. We actually saw a Red Sea Reefer setup there and it looked phenomenal. She saw a gorgeous wrasse in that tank, and I think that - along with their top-of-the-line corals in that tank convinced her we'll need to upgrade eventually, too.

Was just looking through the vendor map and noticed that Sustainable Aquatics has a booth there. They're the wholesale arm of the LFS I mentioned a while back that had recently closed to relocate to a different city (thankfully closer to me). That's where I got my [replacement] black-and-white ocellaris. They seem to really have their act together from what I've seen. Hope they got some good business from the show.

We most likely stopped at that booth. We perused every vendor carefully and met a lot of nice people.
Reason we went with this instead of the competitors is, we know there is still a larger tank in our future. Even my wife told the sales people that when we retire and move to our last home, we will get the largest tank we can fit in that house. I went with the cad tank because I don't want a sump running in our current living room. Even the quietest of sumps makes noise. That and it triples the chance of catastrophic events. Tank blow out, sump blow out, and plumbing blow out. I know it's rare but I have enough things to worry about without adding that.

The 100 was really nice but it's 48". We don't have that much room in the space allotted, unless I do major room renovations. Even the 75 will require some furniture relocation. I have an end table cigar humidor that I'll need to move to the office upstairs just to get the extra foot or so for the 75.

Only time will tell if we made the right decision..if not, I'll just have to retire sooner! 😀

Why do you have say good points about tanks with sumps???!!! I am sitting next to my tank and thinking, it is quiet, I like that the water is contained in one area and it's safer to go with an AIO than one with sump...I agree. Guess the reefer will wait.

Congrats again. Excited for you

Please don't buy into my personal phobia. There are thousands of sump systems running fine! The reefer is a spectacular tank. If i was buying my last tank, it would most likely be that...
Started the build blog....a bit premature...but a placeholder for the future...

Haha. That has always been a big concern of mine with the reefer. Power loss, something happening. I may still pull the trigger on it, we will see. Of course you need to do a build thread!

Interesting the 100g is only 48 inches. That is the amount of room I have..hmm

I don't know. I'd probably have gone for the sr80 if it was still around. I saw one on eBay but it was in SoCal and the guy wouldn't ship...
I think the IM SR series were a bit over priced. For the price of the 120 you'd have your reefer which is a better system IMO.
IM has been quiet except for Aqua gadgets. I bought one of their nori feeders. It is utter junk. The magnet came out of its housing the first time I used it. And the tang and blennie wouldn't go near it..whereas the blennie lays down on the veggie clip while the tang picks at it...goofy, goofy fish....

Just noticed IM discontinued all their large tanks.. I wonder what they are going to do

Yes, the innovative SR series was well overpriced, didn't make sense at all. Probably why they discounted them. I was looking at your tank, can you run two rerun pumps or is there a t at the bottom? I like how the return is spaced one lower and one upper. Going to run two heaters or one?

I am going to go track down a 40 gallon tub to cook and then use for transfer
