Oyster egg

Does anyone use this?? What is it suppose to look like? I stopped by NLA today to get a bottle but it looks like a bad bottle or something. On the bottle it says naturally soft when frozen but the damn thing was a solid block of ice. Kinda like when you let the ice cream melted and freeze it again. I asked the guy that work there and he said "I don't know. I've never opened it" .. Great answer!! :D

Oh if you know which LFS sell them please let me know. AG doesn't carry it any more. Some place near SJ would be great. :)

Elite - it's supposed to look like that.

I have a jar of the stuff, and it looks like exacty what you just explained - hecka ice crystals.

I use it sparingly - but maybe cuz I use it sparingly I don't see great results.

Uhmm .. everyone talks about how good this thing is but all I can see in the bottle is ice. So how do you feed your coral with this??

I dissolve it in tank water - you use a small amount like a sliver - think half a pea or smaller.

Hi Elite,
The texture of oyster eggs might look like solid block of ice but when you use a spone to scrape them, they feel very soft and melt easily. As long as they are used within the expiration day, I think you are ok and your coral will love you for it. By the way, they have somewhat pleasant smell when disolve in water. I got my jar from Atlantis, may be you can try calling King Aquarium and see if they have them in stock.

Hi africangrey :)
How is the purple stag?? The one you gave me looks great. Thanks :)

I will see if King has it. I might go to Dolphin tomorrow to check out some fish. Hopefully they have it there so I don't have to stop by many places.

I wonder what the ice crystals are doing to the product. They tend to be very sharp, and love to burst weak cell walls. Anyone ever try to put them under a scope to see what the ice crystals did to the "eggs"?

Hey Elite,
Glad to hear the frag is doing well, how is the color under the 14k, the purple stag has fnally encrusted on the plug, can't wait to the open structure when it grow out. Did you have any luck at Dolphin or King, if anything a drive to Atlantis won't hurt, Ming would love to sell you a jar, be sure to bring cash, he will give you 8.75% off, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I don't know what the ice crystal would do to the cell wall of the egg, but when I pour them to my tank, all the sps polyps would come out to feed, the eggs must be doing something to the sps. Eric Boreman spoke highly about them, saying they are one of the greatest invention for coral nutrition, and I think he did examed them under the microscope and validated the manufature's claim for 3x106 eggs/mL.

I might go to Atlantis tomorrow. Dolphin didn't have it. I didn't have time to go to King but I don't think they sell them.
